Boston owns the Brooklyn picks, Atlanta just owns the pick swap.

Asik for Humphries expiring & the 2 Brooklyn picks IMO seems to make the best sense for a Dec 15th deal. Also a steal for the Celtics if they plan on keeping Rondo for the next two years, and want to try and make the playoffs.

That way the Rockets can increase they amount of salary they take back in a February deal and increase their offer with 2 more high value picks.

They have swaps for both 2014 and 2015. Both picks are absolutely golden right now, but they have to keep Horford happy as well.

Asik for Millsap and a potentially top pick in 2014 or 2015 does sound a little high. May have to throw something else in there.

Right now Morey is desperate, is short on time, has a center who is fuming to get out, and all in all is in a position of the beggar, not the chooser; and other teams know it. Don't expect Millsap or a top 10 pick. Expect a first rounder who maybe will turn out to be as high as #12 or 14 in the draft.

Be afraid NBA... Daryl Morey at work.

Looking like classic Morey. Get what you can for Asik, make sure you get a lottery pick (high value trade currency), then see what you can do in February with the players/picks/roster you have.

Worst comes to worst you pick up a nice player in the draft (that you can trade), or trade picks for a possible step up or two in the draft (that you can trade or use). And if things work out, you use the draft pick, incoming players plus whatever you want on the Roster to trade for a real impact player.

It's going to get very interesting. :)

What happens when the nets win their division and finish 4th in the east?

I can't believe, on clutchfans of all places, that the Omer Asik/Jeremy Lin contracts are still being mistaken for.

you can. I have no, none, zero interest in trading Jeremy Lin. Jeremy Lin makes little to no sense on the Heat anyway, if they took Asik (they get great play out of Bird man and have Oden) they would want something their team needs and it isn't that they run a PG centered offense where Lin's style of play works for them.

In this draft coming up _ Morey may hold on to the pick... Supposedly 6-10 franchise caliber players in next year's draft...

You're probably right, but lets not underestimate the stupidity and desperation of NBA GMs.

The Dec 19th cutoff is for the same reason, to keep assets liquid for the deadline. If Asik gets dealt for a lotto in December, we roll with DMo and Smith as the backup centers until the deadline. Then we evaluate whether its more pressing to get another backup center or a shutdown wing and package the pick for a veteran.

Probably 100 different permutations, but I'd find it hard to believe that there are more than 5 or 6 teams at the most that can actually think about bringing in Asik in any situation that doesn't blow up their team or force them to make other moves on the side. Every team would LOVE to have him, but there are only so many slots in the league for starting centers needed.

However it only take 2 motivated buyers for the seller to get a good deal.

Asik for Millsap will end up being what Morey gets out the Asik trade. That will not be bad at all. Millsap does have a post up game and can shoot the 3. Morey will get something done in the end.

So doesn't that mean Atlanta can swap the picks whenever they want...? So if we got the picks from Boston _ if Atlanta sees a player they want they can swap the pick...???

@sam_amick: If Houston can't find lottery pick for Asik, rival teams under impression they're also on the lookout for high-level power forward.

(Will fix links when on computer)

I'm guessing Asik and one of our point guards and one of our draft picks and 1.5M cash for a recent high lottery pick who is currently disappointing and a second round pick.

To be fair, if they ever did look to acquire Jeremy Lin, it would be to function as a 1/2 combo guard. Less for his ability to facilitate the offense (that's what Lebron does a lot of the time) than to have a multiple role player that can play useful minutes and back up Wade in terms of scoring load.

Wade has been out for 5 games now, and his knees and age are a serious ongoing issue for the Heat.

Asik would fill a serious hole at the 5, and Lin would not only be able to take some scoring load at the 2 when Wade sits, but to help with facilitation when Lebron gets rest in a 2 guard line up like Lin/Wade, Lin/Cole, or Lin/Chalmers.

Still, it's unlikely the Heat would trade for Asik/Lin, but it wouldn't be like there would be no role for Lin at all.

If we cant get Atlanta's pick this year, I'll take next years 1st round pick if it includes the option to swap with the nets. Hopefully by this time next year we have the ammo to go for Lamarcus Aldridge.
