Simple question. Is our current core of players salvagable with better coaching? Or do we need to blow it up because our players are also bad? An example of a team with talent but sucked was the Chiefs last year. Everyone knew they had a ton of talent that was held back by their awful QB. Are we near KC right now? or near the Jaguars just in terms of pure talent?

Right now, I'm fully on the blow-it-all-up bandwagon.

stay the course, we're on the right track, this set back has really motivated Matt Schaub and next year we will be back to contention for the Superbowl.

    We're on the right track.

In today's nfl, you can do both if you know what you are doing. Kc, San Fran, Seattle all did them both.

Spoken like a true fan. A true fan would never give up on his team or want change. Only silly #1 pick wanting fans want change!!

The Texans need a new head coach, a new front office, and a new QB. That's the text book definition of a rebuild, and that's what needs to be done. The good news is that a rebuild in the NFL doesn't have to be as ugly as a rebuild in baseball or basketball.

This, but I don't think there's any way they fire Rick Smith, he's the perfect guy for what the Mcnairs are trying to do and that is allow your son to act as GM while never having to take any of the heat or criticism that comes with the position.

Eh, I'm kind of leaning toward reload this year (starting with a new coach), but don't have much faith in the FO. We'll really have to nail the draft, no spending 5th round picks on fat aggies, in order for it to work. So I guess I'll just show up and see what happens.

Still a lot of talent here and we've suffered through a ton of injuries to key players. That being said I'm really concerned about the defense the line outside of Watt is crap, the LBs even worse and the secondary is a flag fest. I hear calls to cut JJO but do we remember how bad it was before him?! He's declining but seriously what would you replace him with?

The Texans have become toxic: selectively clean house, thoroughly sanitize, salvage what you can, but this team should be extensively- evaluated by the new coaching staff and several players should be purged. They will decide who, but I hope most of the secondary is gone. Offensive line must be fixed. RB situation settled. New LBs. Needs are many. If Schaub and Kubiak are back next year……well you know.

Texans are ****ed because the owner has been exposed as a complete dunce. We will have a hard time getting any professional GM's in here or any decent coaches. Nobody worth their salt (except for dumbass Aggies) want to work for Bob McNair.

I foresee a very long and grueling period of sucking for the Texans franchise. We may have to wait as many years as the Saints did before we ever compete or win anything. Sorry to play the groundhog, but winter is coming!!!!!! :)

JJ Watt/Cushing is too good of a defensive core to just "complete rebuild". KJ/Swearinger is a decent secondary to build on, but the Texans really need to get Clowney, safety, CB in the draft.

I personally think the jury is still out on Mercilus.

Anything built around KJ/Swearinger is likely to fall to pieces (all while KJ and Swearinger rack up the taunting penalties).

The defense needs quality LB's. They have none. If Clowney can be a 3-4 OLB (which I doubt), then it could get better in this system... otherwise they need a new system, and more talent.

    Rebuild.

We aren't quite at the Chiefs talent level, but I could see us competing for a wild card with a good offseason.

Hire Lovie. Switch to 4-3. Draft Clowney. Watt and Clowney on the ends is enough to make even a poor secondary look good. Mitchell and whoever inside. Cushing as MLB. OLBs in 4-3 are easier to find than in 3-4, so you sign a couple of vets and draft one in the middle rounds.

Offensively, the biggest need is o-line (RT and RG). Shore that up and the offense should be able to at least help you win games by minimizing mistakes.

3-4 contributing draft picks and a couple of savvy FA signings and we can compete next year.

Rebuilding is done through good coaching and QB play in the NFL. Two things that can be fixed this offseason. Would also like a President of player personnel so Rick doesn't have all the roster power. If we could scoop DeCosta from Baltimore I would be ecstatic.
