I'd want to trade our #1 to Cleveland for their 2 first round picks (Indy's first rounder) and 2nd/3rd rounder.

I think this would be a no brainer for the Texans...and if Cleveland covets Bridgewater enough, they'd jump on the opportunity.

Going with Matt Schaub for another year is better than wasting a pick on Teddy Bridgewater.

i would be more inclined to believe that he has just given up on college, i have seen video that breaks down every snap and him getting doubled/trippled on every snap simply isnt true..

I watched his film from high-school during signing period before he chose South Carolina. It's not like I watched individual games, but there was nothing to gain from doing so. He was a man amongst boys.

At that point I was very excited to see him play at the next level, and he didn't disappoint. His dip in production simply isn't because left-tackles have figured him out. The injuries did slow him down, plus teams often commit a tackle, G/TE, and back to blocking him these days. I just don't buy the notion that he peaked last year.

i'd be careful with those words.... ahem, the truth...... clowney lovers don't like it very much. they have the michigan hit on a constant loop while they throw darts at a bridgewater cut out.

That's my issue with him...that Ive seen him kind of just give up. Reminds me of Mario in some ways, and that bothers me about Clowney. You'd never see a player like Watt or Cushing give up on plays, ever...and those are the kind of defensive players Id want to build around.

He's only seen 3 blockers against a couple teams, so that's certainly not the norm. But he's been seeing 2 blockers more often than he's left 1-on-1.

It's pretty clear you don't really know what you're talking about. The only point I've been trying to prove is that he's clearly the better prospect. Bridgewater is the best QB in the draft, and I wouldn't be upset if/when the Texans draft him either. I don't understand why people are looking at this like there's only 1 right choice, and if he's not the player they like then he sucks." Bridgewater simply has more question marks(Weight, hand-size, level of competition) than Clowney or Barr.

I'd be ok with any of the 3 at #1 to be perfectly honest with you.

i see what youre saying, i want the texans to make the right choice and hope th epeople that are paid to scout and grade potential are doing their job. clowneys work ethic is just as much a concern as bridgewaters frame is.. i would hate to see a qb get injured and i would hate to see a dominant player coast until its contract time.

as for everyone that is so sure that bridgewater is a bust i would like to see their track record regarding who they wanted the texans to draft vs who was actually drafted.. also who else they thought wouldd have a great future and who would bust.

It has nothing to do with disagreeing with me, and everything to do with you piggybacking on the arguments of other posters to support your suggestion that Clowney is overrated & buyers base their support on a single ESPN highlight.

How do you know this for sure?

He might turn out to be a very good player, the talent is there.

Clowney's worth ethic is a legitimate concern. No denying that. But in my eyes it's worth the risk, because I'd look at Mario's production in the NFL as Clowney's floor. Not a bad worst case(Barring major injury) scenario.

In Bridgewater's case, there isn't an example of a QB with a similarly slight frame having extended success in the NFL that I'm aware of over the last 10 years or so. Even if he put on 15lbs, he'd be about 210. Only Brees & Wilson are that light, but their builds are much more compact due to their short stature. It's just hard for me to feel confident in Bridgewater being the exception. Not saying that it would be impossible, but I'd be fairly surprised if he's able to withstand NFL punishment

To be perfectly honest, so would I, but this chatter about Bridgewater's frame is starting to rattle me.

Bridgewater's hand size has not been measured. Someone speculated that he has small hands bc he wears a glove on his throwing hand. Combine will put an end to all speculation one way or another.

I agree he needs to add weight. But, he turned 21 in november, so he's plenty young to add 20-30 lb's.

We, as a fan base, I think, are just nervous because we suck so bad this year, and there's a couple of prospects that are pretty good, but are a little iffy.

That being said, I wasn't that convinced on Bridgewater a few days ago. I've been watching a little more film, and I've become more convinced. I think he's a kid you could build a franchise around. Unfortunately, he also has potential to be very average. I do think, though, that his potential for greatness far outweighs his potential for average.

I mean, it sucks that he's never going to be a Manning, Brady, or probably even Rodgers, but he could certainly be better than RGIII or Russell Wilson, in my opinion. In 5 years or so, he could potentially be a top 2 or 3 NFL quarterback. He's just not a sure fire great quarterback coming into the league, like an Andrew Luck.

The thought of pairing Clowney and Watt together sounds amazing. I wouldn't mind that, either. I just honestly think Clowney has more potential to bust out than Bridgewater. I mean, Bridgewater, from what I've heard, is a film junkie, and has all the tools. Clowney is lacking in motivation, but has all the physical tools. I'd rather have someone that will work harder. Maybe when he's working with Watt this happens, though? Clowney just reminds me of a Mario Williams-type player for us. Would probably have three or four pretty good seasons, but he'll probably end up hurt quite a bit, and will probably never be a total game changer. Of course, I could be wrong, though.

It's absolutely clear to me that the Texans need a quarterback, though. Whether that means they take Bridgewater number one (probably my preference right now), or they take Clowney number one (or Barr, even) and trade back up into the first round to get a Carr or Manziel or Hundley (I like Hundley) - they absolutely have to get a high priority quarterback.

Unless they want to stretch this out to a two year rebuild...

But, McNair will probably do something foolish like keep this coaching staff and draft Derek Carr number one overall.
