It's the team I grew up with. Same with Vince young, he grew up in Houston and you hate him for it. These people don't even care about both, the city and the team.
I don't find these threads particularly helpful. There's a ton of Rockets fans across the world. I haven't been to Houston in over 15 years. I don't know much about the city or have much attachment to it. The only reason I'd go to Houston is to watch a Rockets game. But that doesn't make me any less of a fan. I think as long as people love the Rockets, it doesn't matter what city they are loyal too. I live in Brooklyn, but I am definitely not a Nets fan nor will ever be one. Give me my Rockets, Saints, and Astros.

We've been through "Choke City" and come out the other side. Why should we get apoplectic about a couple of regular season games in December?
Point is that the fools who aren't Rockets fans are just a small trolling group who are looking for victims to provoke such as yourself. If people didn't let them get underneath their skin they would just disappear into the folds of nothingness from where they came.
I'm from LA and can honestly say I hold no allegiance to this cancerous city, and if you talk to most Los Angelinos, they will say the same thing. Patriotism <and it's like concepts> are a scoundrel's last refuge. -sj

That's all you need to be amongst the greatest of fans. No one has the right to tell you anything else. The people who say that are not a real fan are just very small-minded insecure petty individuals. Fan means fanatic - does not say "You have to have lived in the city of the team for x years or whatever". Any reason is legit, so long as you love your Rockets!

The poll shows 35 people. How many people such as myself refuse to partake in this silliness? It's probably 35 out of thousands. Probably closer to 2% than 20% in reality. Rudy T never worried about the non-believers. He ignored them. He only cared and worried about the believers. The non-believers were never able to troll him.
