Harden is playing through an injury. Even coaches like Jackson & Pops treat their franchise player differently. The way Pops has acted towards Parker & Ginobili he doesn't with Duncan.
People forget that T-Mac under JVG did whatever the hell he wanted. And Adelman didn't care what Kevin Martin did either. I have watched the Rockets through 4 coaches, Rudy, JVG, Adelman, and now McHale. McHale resembles Rudy the most. Remember many fans were complaining about Rudy coddling SF3 and Cat back in the days. That he couldn't be tough with them. There were tons of Rudy bashing before his departure for similar things that people now believe McHale's doing. In the end, if McHale's not getting the most out of these players, Morey will replace him. I think he has one year left on his contract(or this is his last year), so he'll be fired in the offseason if it's determined he's the cause of our lack of success.
We don't have plays and fans massively overrate the role players talent on this team. Harden isos because we have an inept coach
This year is the last guaranteed year of his contract. Next year is team option. Morey structured him like a second round pick. Second round picks (except Parsons) have been dispensible. We'll see. I would argue that JVG got the most out of TMac when he was here. Of course you can argue he could've gotten more out of TMac, but at least he got more out of him than Adelman.
We have to win almost every game at home. Three good opponents in the next four and have to win hopefully 3 out of 4. Not an excuses team but 3 important players out. Chandler's a critical guy. Almost like a 2nd or 3rd PG out there. A lot of our shots weren't as open because he and Jeremy weren't there. Harden's defense: Our D across the board needs to get better. We have to continue to work on. We have talent to be top ten. Running and getting easy baskets: You can't win playing walk it up ball. Defenses are too good. Sticking with your principles because you see it's a longer process: It's difficult but important. It allows you to avoid where the Nets are. Where your payroll is high, tough year and no draft picks. That's a triple whammy. When it gets hard is when you're close. When you're close, you have to go outside of the box. I can see us doing that in the upcoming years. Pushing the value. Warriors in town: Steph and Klay, a lot like our offense. You don't stop it. You gotta make it harder for them. We want to be in that contender status. These 2 games will show where we both stand.
Thanks, J.R. Fastest in the West Daryl Morey is always the voice of reason after a bad game. I hope everyone is ready to work hard.
12/6/13 790- you guys like to run, but how about half court offense morey- well we were top 5 in half court offense & transaition offense last year year, i know it doesnt look good me saying this now but harden is a very good half court offensive player. 790- people were saying trade harden morey- yeah I know when some fans when you win 2 games we are going to a championship and then we lose 2 it gets bad
Summary: Parsons is going to get paid and we're not trading Lin. Harden's defense so the rest of the team has to pick it up.

Morey is saying once you are close to a title, you may need to sacrifice short term flexibility to get over the hump (i.e. committing more cap space and/or trading away picks to acquire missing pieces). At some point you gotta push your chips in.
