Awful really? What game did you watch. He looked pretty good to me. The Coogs decided to throw everything at Bridgewater and give up the run. He was under constant pressure, sacked 4 times, run out of the pocket to avoid multiple more sacks and still managed to make some great passes and complete 19-29. I thought it was a great game plan for the Coogs and their best chance at beating Louisville but in the end Louisville took what the Coogs were giving and ran for a victory. But nothing in that game made me think anything less of Bridgewater. He was pressured at least half his pass attempts and still played with pose. He made some good deep passes and threw on the run and under pressure with accuracy, had some tackles in his face and released the ball quickly for completions avoiding sacks. He ran well but even in his scrambles he never stops looking for his recievers. I see nothing that he did that would hurt his NFL prospects. In the NFL under pressure everything he did would work just as well. Yeah the NFL defenses are stronger and quicker but his NFL OLine will be much better at protecting him then the Louisville crappy O-Line. Bridgewater has one of the worst O-line of all the top qb's. Which makes what he does even more impressive. I am with the guys who believe the game has changed and the QB is by far the most important position on the field. Passing up Bridgewater for even someone like Clowney would be a big mistake. The Jags won't make that mistake. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/IQKN-F6fk6I?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Stated by many as the 3rd best QB prospect since peyton (only behind Luck, RGiii) Some even say that he's a better prospect than RGiii No way we should pass on him. If he bust, then we keep picking a QB until we find a franchise qb
No way. RGIII has a much quicker release. You can't just say if he busts we just keep drafting QB. If you keep losing, Watt is gone in FA. Other players will walk too. Now you are tasked with rebuilding pick after pick. So no, you can't just keep drafting QB until you find the right one. Trade it. Bridgewater is a bad gamble. Your franchise QB can be had in the 2nd round.
By many? Just a few weeks ago, people were saying Mariotta had the more likely chance to go #1 if he came out. You're also severely underrating the hype/expectations surrounding the following QB's when they came out: Cam Newton Sam Bradford Vince Young Alex Smith Aaron Rodgers Eli Manning Carson Palmer Michael Vick Donovan McNabb
I have to agree. The 1999 draft alone had 3 guys that I think were more hyped than Bridgewater (Tim Couch, Donovan McNabb, and Akili Smith... who went 1 2 3). Hell, and you might throw Daunte Culpepper in there too. Then you've got... 2001: Michael Vick 2002: David Carr, Joey Harrington 2003: Carson Palmer 2004: Eli Manning, Phillip Rivers 2006: Vince Young, Matt Leinart 2007: Jamarcus Russel 2008: Matt Ryan 2009: Matt Stafford I'd say almost every single one of those guys were considered better/more hyped prospects than Bridgewater.
While I dont mind taking Bridgewater with the #1 pick... I kinda wanna see how Brett Hundley will do in the NFL; I personally have high hopes for this kid. The Texans should consider drafting down, get Clowney or Barr, and use their second pick for Brett Hundley. Hire a good QB coach and let them go to work...
Watt doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Defense doesn't matter. The running game doesn't matter. It is all about the QB. The Ravens were mediocre going into playoffs. Flacco gets hot and they are superbowl champs. You keeping getting QBs until one works since the QB is that important.
What test do they use at the combine to determine which qb is gonna play way above average come playoff time? Because we need to just look at that and we got our guy.
i def would, the redskins are a mess... RG3 isnt nearly as bad as media makes him seem, he had better stats than Luck this year( basically with no offseason)
Hundley has played WAY better as of late, Mettenberger before the knee injury was slow as mollasis, now he will be even slower lol. LSU's backup came in and scored on his first drive and one the game for them, its painful watching mettenberger play
RG3 was an still is a better prospect than Bridgewater based on his arm strength, both are very accurate( so thats a push)... RG3 has 4.3 speed when healthy.... it may not matter to a qb( but it helps when you grade out qb's), but RG3 goes number 1 in any draft the past 10 years that doesnt include Luck
I'm personally not sold on bridgewater as a franchise qb. Imo he's a more polished geno smith. He winds up when throwing and has a slower release, he'd be prone to ints. He also has a tendency to overthrow quite often. I do like his footwork and the pro offense he runs but I see a repeat of David Carr with him. Same size, similar arm strength, mobility, and mechanics, smaller school, weaker competition. I think mariota was a better prospect, and still think manzel is more dynamic is you could get him in a more structured offense. It may be smarter to bolster the strength of the team (jj) with a pass rush as in clowney if we go to a 4-3 or Barr if staying in 3-4. Then an ilb, cb, and s.
