Can the East field a proper all-star team this year?

I was thinking more because the nba did it last year with the east vs west rivalry.

For instances if memory is correct they had the same amount of participants in the three point contest, dunk contest, and skills challenge and made this rivalry.

Also get rid of the crappy uniforms the east and west wear, just get them wearing their normal teams clothing, it would be fun to watch the wests best vs Indiana and miami

Right now, the Pacer's defense looks like the best defense in at least a decade. Hibbert is the key to that defense.

    This is an awesome idea!

I would say, let the previous year's top 2 MVP finishers be the captains. Keep the current system to select all-stars, but eliminate conferences: 4 best guards and 6 best forwards. And then allow the captains to choose their team.

I would prefer one of the captains be a representative from the host city, but you risk a situation like last year where the Harden trade barely saved us from the embarrassment of not having a rep

Afflao is having a pretty good season, no doubt he makes the all star team if he keep it up.

The East can certainly field 8-10 players that can compete. Could even win.

Now if the game was 20 on 20 rather than 5 on 5, the East would have issues :p

    My exact thoughts.

Its possible, some kind of pick up game format with captains similar to what VoA stated below.

It could be determined by the to two players in votes. It could be the two head coaches flip a coin and start choosing players. Fans can specifically vote for who is all star AND who they think should be captain.

There are plenty of scenarios, and i believe all of them would work. Not only that, but i think it would add intrigue to the festivities, which lately have been bland.

Wall, Wade, George, LBJ, Hibbert. That was not so hard was it?
