That's not 100% true. Bradford hadn't lived up to the hype even before his injury... there were doubts whether or not the Rams were going to offer him an extension. Now, with the injury... and a chance to get out of any future long-term deal... the Rams could explore getting somebody they really want (if he projects as expected in the workouts). Hell, a Sam Bradford-type #1 pick is something the Texans would not want to be a part of... Bridgewater would have to exceed what Bradford was projected to be coming out.
Yeah if the Rams were at #3 and Bridgewater was there, I would not be shocked if they selected him. Their desire to trade up though, not sure about that. It guess it all depends on how they scout and what rating Bridgewater gets in their camp.
This post made me laugh. Just stop. As far as beating the Jags, we can afford a win. They have home games left with the Bills and Titans. They are playing better with Henne.
lol yea they do, Bradford is a bust... the only reason why he is still around is because he is contract is unmovable... they were trying to move his contract during the 2012 draft
We also have a game left against the Titans though, we can't win both of those and be #1 pick. I think we could get away with winning one, but losing to the Jaguars on Thursday puts us solidly in this #1 spot and limits how low we can fall (because the Jags gain a win).
I don't think we can beat the Titans on the road. Tomorrow is the only winnable game left on the schedule.
We almost beat the Patriots. Anything is possible. Keenum is more comfortable handling pressure. A loss against the Jags will help us immensely considering they need a QB too. Fortunately the Jags are playing better.
Two sacks is strange to me. It is an effort issue, and guys with low motors rarely succeed in the NFL. Barr has improved every year. Clowney is a freak athlete.
I watched the entire Louisville-Houston game and Bridgewater was awful. I do not want him. His stats late in the season have not been good and he's faced marginal competition. Passing on Clowney for him would be beyond dumb.
I'm hearing more and more about Bridgewater's small hands. He has to wear a glove to improve his grip. Concerning. Give me Clowney. Keenum will look much better with Owen Daniels and Arian Foster back...it will keep the defenses honest.
Trading back is looking better and better. Minnesota and Clevenland are probably the most likely to trade partners. If we could swap firsts, get a 2nd and 3rd that would be amazing! Just don't see that much demand for the number one this year.
I watched this gm as well, and like you, came away unimpressed with Bridgewater. I will say however that was the only gm that I've seen of him for all four quarters.
If you consider Calvin Johnson a sure-thing, then so was his predecessor in Detroit, Charles Rogers. I remember him very clearly because he was picked right before AJ. And I remembered actually wanting us to draft him. Consenus "best player" of that draft, but of course taken below the "questionable" Carson Palmer because Palmer was QB. And surely as a Texans fan you should know the last "sure thing" the Texans passed up. Do you still regret to this day that we didn't draft the best prospect to ever come out of college and the next Gale Sayers in Reggie Bush?
