If I remember correctly, Rudy T had the same job after he was re-assigned by the Lakers from the head coach position.

Looks like a demotion. But it could just be about fit. Frank fits filing reports better because what he does on the bench overlaps with what Kidd does and Kidd clearly does it better.

Prok, Billy King and Deron have done marvelous work with this JKidd thing. Marvelous work.

If I were LFrank I would chill w/that Mill/year until another assistant coaching gig opens up.

    SMH at the Nets.

This is what you get when you hire a HC to be an assistant. If you want top assistants, hire assistants. Get the best assistants you can from other teams and pay them more than assistant salaries. But hiring a HC who thinks he's a HC is not exactly the best way.

I didn't think this was going to be an issue in the preseason because they have such a veteran-heavy team that I envisioned more of a Rudy T with Charles, Hakeem/Clyde scenario. Which is less coaching and more ego control. But apparently the state of the team isn't allowing this.

Kidd doing his best to prevent another player from EVER making the direct jump to coaching again lol. What a ****ty season for them so far.

Kidd is in over his head, and I think Frank probably identified that, and tried telling him what to do. What a mess of a situation. Hiring Kidd was a bad idea from the start.

Frank should have been the head coach and Kidd knows it. Now the Nets know it.

I don't think the issue is that Frank doesn't know how to act like an assistant rather than a head coach. He worked several years as a lead assistant in Boston very recently and this was never an issue. Adrian Wojnarowaki also noted that Doc Rivers, for whom Frank worked in Boston, tried to hire him to be the lead assistant for the Clippers this summer and Frank took the Nets job because he wanted to be near his ill wife and live at home in NJ.

Who knows what is going on in Brooklyn but it seems that Jason Kidd might have been insecure about having a guy working as his assistant while being better at his job than Kidd is.

Didn't Lawrence Frank coach Jason Kidd at New Jersey at one point?

The Nets were 1-1 in the two games that Kidd did not coach, and the win was against the Heat.

Maybe the Nets are better off without him?

But... that was a few years removed from last playing. He did analyst job before going to HC.

Frank has been assistants to actual head coaches. Not someone grooming to be a HC. Doc Rivers was a legitimate HC. One can argue how good he actually is, but there's no debating that he has experience and understand the roles of a HC. That's the difference between Kidd and all the other coaches Frank has been assistants to.
