Why does he bring the ball down after an offensive rebound, all he has to do is keep it above his head and put it back in the basket. Yao used to do the same thing but he eventually figured it out. Will Dwight?

Dwight has poor fundamentals. Like many extremely athletic guys, he could always hide it when he's jumping out of the gym.

At his age and coming back from back injury, he needs to work on fundamentals like these to prolong the usefulness of his career, or prolong the time frame that he remains a superstar player.

You can criticize dwight's low post game, ft shooting, lack of leadership skills but this ridiculous attempt to belittle him is preposterous.

A lot of players pull the ball down.. it's to make sure you have it secured.

Do you realize how many points he's giving up not to mention the hard fouls he takes just because of this one simple thing? It's a very easy thing to correct I would think.

Almost every time he does it he gets a hard foul.

I think I've seen him keep it high a lot. He isn't perfect. Olajuwon will fix that thought process I hope. Yao learned and then it ended.

Talk about low Basketball IQ. If there is nobody is pass the ball to, he will dribble up the court and pass it or hand it off. It isn't as if he is taking his man one on one or dribbling through a full court press.

With all the issues this team has, why are we talking about Dwight dribbling the ball a little bit...erghh

He does it to move his opponent away with his elbows, on offensive boards, it's one of those little things the nba lets people get away with. You might not realise this, but Dwight isn't that tall, usually shorter than everyone he is on, keeping the ball up is dumb. Yao on the other hand, because he was so tall, by keeping his arm up, his elbows could basically hook over the top of opponents

It's so he could give defenders time to gather themselves and foul him for when he does go back up, so he can get a free trip to the FT line.

    I thought everyone knew this.

Some stupid posts in here. Par for the course I guess.

If he's clear of defenders then there's nothing wrong with him dribbling the ball up a few feet. Better than passing to a tightly guarded PG. Makes the defense focus on getting back.
