When we played OKC in the playoffs last season, I could understand him doing that to disrupt Lebron. But watch closely and you can see that he does it almost every play. He likes to camp out in the space between his man and the paint to either try to steal the ball or double someone who's driving to the goal. But it's not necessary most of the time. Yet he keeps doing it. We get burned a ton bc of that.
Like I said, Beverley is asked to defend everyone when the rest of our defense is playing poorly like it did last night. He got a few steals/blocks + a few defensive rebounds + contributed to the Jazz' offense being shaky at times. The problem with our defense was that.........no one outside of him chose to play it. Rockets had no help defense, which is something you kind of need when 3 or 4 players on the opposing team are red hot offensively. It was the same against the Spurs. No help defense.
2 of 8 from the field, 0 of 3 from deep, and 2 assists, in 38 minutes...is good, but still I'd like to see those numbers go up a bit. Harden has to take just too many shots, and too much of the offense upon his own shoulders. It'd be great if, in games like the Utah game for example, there was another Rocket who could playmake or create his own shot. Bev tried once or twice but I'm talking about another guy (besides an injured Parsons) who would be willing to take 12 shots and score 20 points. Maybe Jones is that guy. Right now Bev is just a role player, not even as good overall as that Burke kid on Utah, in my opinion. If only we could merge Brooks and Bev into a single player...
If that's really the strategy, then I would rather have Bev just play his man hard. His "helping out" didn't seem to have any effect on the game. Besides both Burke and Burks, Hayward also had his best game of the season. Seems to me that if nobody on our team can defend this poor Jazz team, we're either piss poor in talent, piss poor in heart or piss poor in coaching.
On to the next Game. Bev's next victim errr I mean Opponet is gonna be Goran Dragic and the Suns. Ben will cook Dragic on the Defensive end. Dragic has alway had a bit of a scrub to himself and his game. Sometimes he looks a little above average it most of the time against a lock down defender like Bev he will get exposed. I'm saying Bev will put the handcuffs on Dragic and Gogi does t score more than 12 points and shoots under 40%. Bev goes for 14 pts 6 Rebs 3 blocks 1 steal and 7 assists!
Dude, trust me when I say that Bev ain't going nowhere. It's all about fit and he is the perfect fit here in Houston in the starting lineup with the Beard and Dwight and our Man Chandler Bang. Core 4. Bev is gonna be here for. Long long time. Big ingredient for our Chip Recipe.
Beats the current Knicks core 4 of Melo, ray Fatton, Bargs and RJ Brick. Talk about garbage that's hasn't won anything.
Are you kidding? Dragon's been ballin and I'm sure he's gonna hit the over on that. I'm willing to take the bet.
Poster said create his own shot- not create weak excuse after excuse on why he can't keep his obligations that he signed a contract for...

What do you call something that looks like a duck, walks like a duck and talks like a duck? A duck. Can't blame Beverley for the position he was put in (starter) or the numbers he's putting up, probably close to the limit of his abilities with this system at this point of his career. He's just making the best of the situation with what he was given. If you expect more (offensively and defensively) your in for disappointment.
