This is a BS post... For one thing George is a small forward and Harden is a shooting guard and usually the best perimeter defenders are forwards and not shooting guards because they are long athletic and harder to get around and shoot over... So comparing them defensively is kinda unfair to Harden...

And wake me up when Indiana beats somebody besides cupcake teams...Lol...

I'm sorry. I understand the argument, but I just don't agree.

Harden isn't going to go off every, single night of the season. And when his offensive game is off, or he isn't getting the calls (like in the play offs), then what will he be contributing on the floor?

Harden should put effort on Defense every, single night. I don't think it's that complicated. Does his offensive importance mean he should be less aggressive? Sure. I can buy that. Stay out of foul trouble is just fine.

However, I'll never accept that he should put ZERO effort on multiple possessions a night on the defensive end.

Why da heck did Harden have to play better defense...??? What's obvious is that guys like Bev and Howard should have played better defense because THAT'S WHY THEY ARE HERE... What was Cisco doing...??? It's not like those guys were lighting up the scoreboard so they should have been putting in the work on the defensive end which they wasn't.

Howard only had 9 rebounds and ZERO block shots... But yea _ it's on Harden

Judging by offensive stats only makes you blind. You need to get league pass and see some pacers game so you understand what people are saying.

Are the Clippers a cupcake team? The same team that wiped us out two times?

I saw the game... I also saw Utah driving to the lane like a layup drill with no fear of their shots getting block... I don't care if Utah only had two layup attempts _ Howard could at least blocked one... And what's your excuse for the rebounding and weak post game of the $21 million super star veteran big man...???

LOL Pimp you cant put that on Howard or Asik. Rebounding I can agree with but the block shots. LOL come onm mayne. Our perimeter players needs to stick to their man or switch on the pick.

You're totally right, only problem is that the forwards you're talking about are also playing against forwards who are long, athletic and harder to get around and shoot over.

I've had league pass probably much longer than you have been a member on this site. I completely understand what people are trying to convey. I just don't agree with all of it.

Well Griffin is a cupcake... Lol... The Clippers are not an elite team... And they beat the Rockets early in the year when the Rockets had lineup issues. Or the Clippers may just have the Rockets number like the Sonics back in the day. The Rockets couldn't beat them but the Rockets beat up on the teams that beat the Sonics.

But just the same the Rockets have beat better teams than Indiana has beat this year... Last night Portland played a top ranked team and got beat. So like I said _ wake me when they beat somebody... And because they haven't _ that makes your post a BS statement.

    Thanks for this fine post.

On one of Hayward's scores (on Harden), Harden didn't play tight over the pick, but clearly expected there to be help, which was absent. So Harden may have done his job, in that instance.

Burks scored two wide open shots because Harden was floating. That comes out to 7 FGM with Harden directly involved. Don't know about any instances in which Harden's man swung the ball after the defense rotated. Also, I have no idea how this compares to "elite defenders," especially given the pace at which the Rockets play.

I saw one instance of Harden not playing tight on the ball handler and allowing an easy inside pass. I can say that when Harden has a defensive lapse, it tends to be poorly contested or uncontested shots, not guys just making tough shots against good D. It makes for embarrassing highlights. Maybe making his overall D look worse than it really is. (Though in some of the FGA clips, Harden's man is open and just didn't get the ball.)

In some highlights, Harden did stop the ball handler then get back to his assignment. And he did a fairly good job getting a hand in the face of the shooter, even locking up his man some.

Clearly the team is having communication issues and is severely lacking in perimeter defense. Guys were playing too lose and losing their assignments on switches. Harden isn't soley to blame and his matador moments in no way compare to his offensive creativity and the work he puts in developing his offensive repertoire.

Not necessarily... Guys like LeBron, Iggy, Deng, etc are guys who can guard multiple positions. Whoever the best perimeter player is from 1-4 they can go out and get...

15 points, 9 rebounds, 0 block shots against freaking Utah... Smh... You can argue Asik had the better game and I put no blame on Asik... Just the guy that everyone was crying for to get to Houston...

Freaking Gordon Hayward had 3 layups on him in the first quarter alone! That's 6 points right there he wouldnt have had to score or contribute to.

Harden shouldn't play better defense because other guys can do it, is this what you mean?
