Stoudamire was slowed down by injuries....Dwight just doesnt understand how to play BASKETBALL...a great athlete but not a great BASKETBALL player.
Even when Dwight does get the ball with his back to the basket down low...he doesnt even score!!! If I could find the stat that shows how many times Dwight scores everytime we dump it down to him....its got to be less than 30%...his whole career he depended on his athleticism and now that its slowly getting away from him he has no skills to depend on...I bet my life this is Dwights last max deal
I was actually watching his post plays tonight and noticed how predictable he is to guard. The upper echelon players at the offensive end tend to be able to beat you in multiple ways. Now I'm not expecting Dwight to pull a consistent 16-footer out of his back pocket, but there's a really subtle move he needs to add to throw the defense off... A pump-fake. I feel like I've yet to see him do one. And due to that, the defender doesn't have to worry about the possible pump fake allowing him to jump right as Dwight does and get good contests. Dwight is just extremely limited in the post due to his lack of variety in shots. Now I'll admit he looked really fluid in the post tonight for the most part, but he's got a ways to go before we can rely on his scoring. And he's going to have to fix that and his free throws before we have a chance at a title. I'm not in panic mode with the guy, but I'd really like to see some sort of improvement in those areas over the course of the season.
so um... andrew bynum, after being out an entire season, with weak knees, and glaring drop-offs, particularly on the defensive end, STILL HAS BETTER POST MOVES THAN DWIGHT HOWARD! This is getting sad...
Joke thread is a joke. How is he supposed to score if he doesn't get the ball? How is he supposed to rebound from the bench? How is he supposed to defend 2 players at once when his teammates play matador defence? How is he supposed to put up big numbers when he is being used ineffectively? How is he supposed to perform the moves Hakeem has been teaching him when his teammates don't know how to or can't feed the post? How is Dwight supposed to throw down Alley-oop slams when his teammates don't know how to throw lob passes properly? (And the best lob passer plays with the second unit) How is Dwight supposed to put up 'big numbers' when he is consistently frozen out of the offence in the second half? He's averaging almost 17 points 12 rebounds 2 blocks, (& gets to the line 9 times a game) as the 3rd or sometimes 4th option behind James Harden, Chandler Parsons, Jeremy Lin & even Brooks! If McHale would run constant pick'n'roll after pick'n'roll, with the occasional post up, Dwight could average 20 plus points per game. He is still the best big man in the game today. It doesn't matter if you were taught math by Einstein when you are trying to solve an equation in the dark.
I wish he would just give us 18-13-2 per night. Hopefully he will in a couple of months when he is used to the system and guys around him.
Amen to this DD. just wait, give it time, Dwight is still enjoying and learning the ropes of this new team. Soon he will make his mark and bring us deep into the post season. DHo is better than Asik, anyone who says different, well .... Has a different opinion than mine.
The big fella is not living up to the hype. His post moves are non-existent but LOL when has he ever had great post moves? He is not rebounding like we thought he would. He allows the refs to get into his head when they call bad call against him. Free throws LMAO I don't even want to talk about that. A lot of games Howard is not getting the ball. Like Kenny, Shaq and Sir Charles all stated, dude needs to demand the da** ball. But hey hopefully dude gets it together and earn that 22 mill a year contract.
Another thing all that damn dancing and playing around needs to stop. I understand dude wants to have fun doing his job but if he wants to take the Rockets to the promise land ( Championship) and win it, He needs to take this game serious.
