The problem with these type of thinking is that if they were healthy, they would've probably only been picking with the 18th to 26th picks for many years straight. They wouldn't have Lillard and Batum for example.

Edit: mistake, they would still have Batum most likely ...

but their ages fit well with the current group of blazers.. Roy will provide the leadership and Oden will dominate the paint

You assume they'd have lillard which they wouldn't but

    Roy
    Durant
    Aldridge

could have been better than the big 3

Maybe. It wouldn't be the same team. Definitely wouldn't have Lillard and would they even have Aldridge to go with those other 2?

Hard to predict exactly how they'd be given such drastic hypotheticals, but they'd definitely be a great team with those 2.

They would still have gotten Lillard too since that was the Nets draft pick. Traded Crash for the nets 1st rounder. They also didn't draft Aldirdge, but traded for him with the Bulls. He was picked 2nd in the 06 draft(Same draft as Roy and a draft prior to Oden)

Batum was also not drafted by the Blazers, but they traded for him

The team could have been Lillard/Roy/Batum/Aldridge/Oden.

    Kind of crazy.

Roy would be the best wing player in the league right now.

Yeah Roy would've been unanimously the best SG in the league right now if he had stayed healthy.

Did Greg Oden ever do anything to suggest he'd be an all-star if healthy?

And with the whole difference in leg length thing, was he ever a chance of actually being healthy??

The Roy part sucks. He was so good. So much fun to watch. He gave one of my favorite playoff moments ever (especially for a first round series).

did you see greg oden in his 1 year in college before he got hurt???? He took a ohio state team with mike conley and daquan cook to the championship game, he single-handedly dominated the tourney. Even the title game he manhandled joakim noah and al horford.

He looked like dikembe mutumbo defensively and offensively I wouldn't say he was deke, he was more like a dwight howard 2 or 3 years ago offensively, you couldn't leave him alone but you didn't worry about him. Lots of put backs and dunks.

I think he would've aveaged 15 pts 13 reb and 2.5 blks for his career if he was healthy, definitely not durant but that portland team already had their franchise guy in Brandon Roy and Lamarcus Aldridge was the #2 pick the year before so Greg Oden was exactly what they needed to matchup witth Dwight Howard,Andrew Bynum,Pau Gasol or Yao Ming if a playoff matchup came.

Hindsight is 20/20 but Greg Oden was the right #1 pick. It's much easier to find a scoring wing than a defensively dominant big, look at the league now you have demar derozan, kevin martin, aron afflalo all putting up 22 ppg+ now obviously those guys aren't durant but still its easier to find production like that on the wings than it is down low. We lost James Harden for 3 games and went 3-0, look at the grizz without marc gasol, kosta koufos is garbage, quality bigs are rare and quality backup bigs are almost non-existent besides asik

just looked at the box score of the 2007 title game

    Greg Oden - 25 pts/12 reb/4 blks

    Joakim Noah - 8 pts/3 reb/4 fouls
