I disagree, I think this is just the beginning of a very successful time for the Aggies. The players that Sumlin has recruited since arriving at A&M have yet to make much of an impact. Let's see what Sumlin can do with the guys he has brought into the program. I think we will see a steady stream of top high school QB talent choosing to go to A&M. Sumlin has shown he knows how to develop players to become top college QB's. The Aggie defense will improve. The Aggies had a bunch of very young guys on defense this year, and new talent is pouring into the program like never before.

Great post. Too many people focus on Manziel's success, and disregard the rest of the offense (O-Line, RBs, WRs). The defense was 100% awful this year, and next year might be a "rebuilding" year, but there's no reason to assume that A&M will be a doormat for the SEC from here on out.
Highly unlikely. He was 100% out the door, but these last 2 games might have him rethinking that slightly, although he was playing injured apparently so that could have been the issue. I'd be shocked if he came back, but I can't rule it out right now.
Now let's get a basketball coach.... On the season being a huge disappointment, sure, I suppose... but if I knew how bad our defense would be going into the season I would consider the season a success. We lost to 3 top 5 teams and LSU on the road. We played 3 top 5 teams! The SEC is a blast.
you certainly played some good teams**, although you also didn't beat a ranked team all year and didn't exactly dominate arkansas, miss st., or vandy. **i believe mizzou's only win over a ranked team was the game against a&m.
If you check out scouting service websites like rivals.com, ect. you will see that A&M is bringing in the states best high school talent. The fact that recruits can stay in Texas and play in the SEC seems to have resinate with recruits. On top of that, Sumlin is a darn good recruiter and seems to have the "cool" factor going for him. Next year is a rebuilding year for A&M, as many underclassman will see significant playing time, but the longterm future looks bright as long as the coaching staff can develop these talented young players. Next year is looking like a 7-5 or 6-6 type season, but after that A&M will contend with the big boys as long as Sumlin sticks around.
When was the last time Sumlin had a good defense? Recruiting quickly gets nullified if you can't coach up the boys. See UT-Austin branch (barring Vincent years)
Georgia says hello. Also Ole Miss/Florida, if you go by date of the game (have heard quite a few people doing this for Ohio State).
Georgia was pretty decimated by injuries when they played Mizzou, but still a very high quality win. In Athens too.
Honestly, Georgia with Murray is a top 15 team by my book. I think y'all would agree, too. They had the one throw-in-the-towel game at Vanderbilt, but the team we played in Athens and the one that went to Auburn -- that's a very good squad, even with the injuries. (Obviously they're a different animal now, without Murray...)
C'mon guys, quit being polite to each other and talk some trash. Tell him Aubie is tougher than Truman (or something like that). GRRRR!!! Aubie vs. Truman Which mascot is more likely to hug someone to death?
If that's the standard, A_3PO, we might be in some trouble... Truman's been known to lay down on the job.
After your smack talk about Sumlin leaving with Johnny departing, etc, you have zero cred on this topic.
Sumlin's shine wore off with all the losses, so he didn't have any alternatives. It's not like he picked A&M over USC or UT-Austin branch.
Rumor has it that he floated inquiries in Los Angeles heard nothing back. Though they tend to be rather insular in their hiring.
