Thoughts on Deuce Bello, guys? Just learned he's transferring to Mizzou. All I know about him is that he was a high-profile recruit that didn't really pan out in his first two years at Baylor. Seems like he could be a great defender with his athleticism -- is there any hope for him on the offensive end? Just curious if he's had flashes.
LJ Rose is out too now. I guess they felt like they wouldn't get enough run these next couple of years. Bello showed glimpses of nice potential. High-energy guy that can give you defense and some rebounding (putbacks, etc). A one trick pony though on the offensive side. He basically just takes it to the rack (broke jumper).
I'm sure he has tons more potential....I didn't like his game, though. I'm really not even remotely anywhere in the ballpark of feeling bad about him leaving. But he may tear it up at Mizzou, because Drew ain't exactly the best at coaching up a team.
Thanks guys. About what I expected. Sounds like the forced year off (due to transferring) might be the best thing for him, if he has the work ethic to reform his shot over the next 16 months.
These both surprised me a bit. I figured that with Pierre & AJ gone, the guards had a shot at earning major minutes. Maybe Drew just likes Gary Franklin more than I realized? I thought Bello's defense on the perimiter could be an asset after the 2012 tourney. At times he looked like the only Bear on the wing capable of beating cutters to the lane. He regressed this year, so I'm not heart-broken. Losing Rose was the bigger shock to me. He didn't look great with what megre minutes he did get, but I still thought he would improve enough this summer to start at the 1. Hopefully we strike gold with another Juco transfer in Kenny Chery. On another note, big man Dominic Woodson decommited from our 2013 class. With Jefferson & likely Austin leaving after the 2013 season, Gathers is really going to need some company.

Phew! When I saw JR's posted last, I thought Scott Drew got in trouble  Not sure if I like these uni's.
Good game tonight guys, didn't get to see a lot of it (been on a plane most of the day) but it looks like my buffs are missing the outside shooting that their seniors gave them last season.
I would turn handstands and do back flips to have Scott Drew recruit my older son to play hoops at Baylor. Love that I can watch BU hoops at the office on a chilly, cloudy afternoon...while billing all of you for it!!!
Sloppy game all around, but with all the whistles that's not surprising. These rule changes that are supposed to facilitate offense are just slowing the game down. After 2 games, they look a lot like last year's team. Hopefully, this squad will figure things out a bit earlier.
ULL 68 - BAY 87 Best we've looked all season. Hopefully, they're starting to find a little rhythm/chemistry. Austin still looks frail out there. 8 blocks was nice to see though.
Baylor opening play in the Maui Invitational tonight. Sadly playing Chaminade who seem to always give teams fits there. All-day coverage starting at 2, even though the Bears don't play until 8:30. Arkansas v. Cal to start it off.
Wow, nice to know. I think I underrated our competition when I was worried about a few of those contested games.
