    Wrong.

This is an appreciation thread for Bev. Lin has jack all to do with it. Just because LOFs don't like the numbers, stats or reality of the situation doesn't change that Bev is the starting point guard for a reason. Check the numbers. Ball don't lie.

You're the one that brought up Lin.

Parker did whatever he wanted to do. What did Beverley do? Was he supposed to guard Parker? If he can't defend, why did he start?

uhhhh Bev is my favorite player!!! He is the ultimate glue guy. He plays Ball, gives a 110%, and looks like he is not looking at stats. It is infectious!!!

How many times do you see an elite offensive player shut down by a single defender?

During Chandler's first year there were multiple games where Chandler showed how good his defense was, yet Kevin Durant and Kobe still got up 30+ points.

Not to mention, Parker went on his 10-0 run off our misses, going against our transition (not set) defense.

I'm not saying Bev did some amazing defensive job on Parker, but there's a team defense failure there too, not just on Bev. If you think Bev shouldn't have started that game then please enlighten me on what point guard we could have played who is better defensively.

I am not talking about "Shut down". How about "SLOW down"? What stats support your claim that Bev is a superior defener than other guards? eye test? You can jump up and down all day long but it doesn't make you a good defender although you may look like one.

What I saw from the video is that Beverley is just as terrible as Lin at fighting over screens. This whole defense emphasis on point guards from McHale is nonsense. Team defense shuts point guards down as they will blow by you with a pick no matter how quick you are.

Parker was missing gimmes early in the game and might have ended up with 40 points.

Said it in the other thread. On the season including the game we just played Parker is averaging 1.27 points per shot attempt. Bev held him to 1 point per shot attempt. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it is significant. This WAS the definition of a slow down, but not shut down defensive performance. One we should hope to get against any elite scoring option.

None of those numbers were exceptional. I won't go into explaining the meaning of them.If you wanted to praise Beverley give him praise for the right reasons. Others have.
