I'm an avid Texans fan...I'd never vote for the Texans to lose. Although after todays performance, which was the best I've seen all year, I have to start thinking about the draft. That being said, I'd like to know everyones top five "need" players in the draft. Here are mine... 1) Offensive Tackle 2) Linebacker 3) Defensive Corner 4) Quarterback 5) Kicker
needs all over the place. but if you're the decision maker..and there's a guy on the board you legitimately believe can be a franchise QB...then that's the guy you take.
If we get the #1 overall pick we pretty much have to get a QB or trade down and get extra picks. You can't use the #1 overall pick on a RT. So where do you go? Clowney? the guy has 2 sacks on the year and is pretty lazy. I really think we need to trade down and get extra picks because there are so many holes on this team.
1.D-line 2.LB 3.CB 4.OL 5.TE Bring in a veteran QB via free agency and also bring in another very solid WR via free agency I would say bring in another o-lineman in free agency but I think their banking on the two young lineman that are on ir to compete and another solid RB in free agency
Too many holes, so I think there's two options. You either go with what positions you think would have the most impact in turning things around, like QB and DL, or you use the strengths of your GM/scouts to identify can't miss prospects. In the case of Rick, that's been ILBs, traditional TEs, and 3-4 DEs.
On Minnesota Sports Talk Radio they are upset that the Texans are ahead of the Vikings in the draft. RACE TO THE BOTTOM!
Why do we trust the current brain trust with these choices? I say we don't. Clean house and then draft. There may be underdeveloped players already on the team. Coaching matters.
There's a 0% chance either of those will happen. As far as the WR goes, they have never done that in franchise history, they certainly aren't going to buck that trend a year removed from using a 1st round pick on a WR, and, most importantly, that isn't a need anyhow. As far as the veteran free agent starting-caliber qb: care to offer up a name or two?
And to add on, to what Cardpire said, what free agent QB's that are worth having will be available? And where will we get the money to sign said QB, not to mention the WR you want as well.
That's what i meant in 2nd paragraph. There's nobody available (unless the Steelers make Roeth available, which I'd be in favor of).
It's going to be hard to spend all this monopoly money you see us having next year during free agency when we're already going to be hard up against the cap, with guys like Schaub, Foster, and Cushing most recently signed and still having others like Manning and Joseph taking up a lot of our cap space.
Lots of emerging holes. Change coming. No need to concern ourselves with patching holes. BPA all the way.
Is there a franchise QB this year? I don't get the sense that most people think Bridgewater is a once in a lifetime QB like RG3 and Luck were hyped up to be. If there's not a true franchise QB, why would we bother just taking the best one? I'd rather have Clowney. BPA, please.
