Are you getting the coupe or the 4 door coupe for the 6? Both look nice but I can see the 4 door being a lot more convenient. I'd go with m6 because it's tuned overall for sharper turns and a louder exhaust note. If the m6 exhaust gets too cumbersome for a daily drive then the regular 6 would be great. I've had some loud cars and sometimes the roar of the engine and road noise gets annoying but yolo.
If you're going to drop that much money on a performance car, just get a tricked out Tesla. 0-60 in 4.6, 270 mile range and the absolute greatest car technology in existence today. You'll still be able to out-drag just about anybody unless they're driving a GT-R. No-brainer IMO.
If you have the "cash" and is a baller, sure splurge. But if you're going to "finance" these cars, then it's a bad decision. My friend just "financed" an R8 Spyder. He could have easily invested in a house or something with better returns.
Performance is not just 0-60 times. The Tesla is a pig at 4700 lbs. How does it handle? I couldn't even find Nurburgring times for it after much searching cause I figured Tesla didn't even bother.
You're confusing two different concepts. Having cash to buy something doesn't mean you can afford it. And having to finance something does not mean you can't. Money is cheap nowadays. Auto finance rates are around 2.8%. The way the market has been the last few years, most people would rather finance and put their cash into investments.
From a Jalopnik review:
Handling: 9/10 The good times keep on rollin’ here. The Model S does not handle like a 4650lb car. It handles like a 3800lb car – maybe better. With much of the vehicle mass (the modular battery) located low in the vehicle, a 48/52 weight distribution, and a simple powertrain configuration, handling the Model S was a joy. The GY Eagle RS-A2 tires had great grip and felt linear up through the sub-limit handling I did – remember, I wasn’t trying to buy a Tesla… Yet… There was at least one clover leaf on-ramp that I could progressively squeeze the accelerator down and whip out onto the expressway. Man, this thing has chops.
http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/2013-tesla-model-s-85kwh-the-oppositelock-review-8-1305984750 Of course, if you plan to drive the 'ring everyday, you should probably take it there yourself. Otherwise for all practical reasons, it handles extremely well.
Review by a motorcycle rider based on a test drive on public roads. I think there are better sources available for handling analysis.
I know you have a special hatred for the Tesla. Why don't you go find a "respectable" review that says the Tesla's handling isn't awesome and post it here?
Because you are the one claiming it has awesome handling and technology beyond compare. The only thing I dislike about Tesla is them getting $7500 in federal money for each car sold. If Tesla Would Stop Selling Cars We'd All Save Some Money
I just picked up a e92 M3 this past week. Big fan of the added performance and interior quality that the M adds over my previous 335. Imagine that it would be similar, or even more so, if one were looking at the 5/6 series vs. the M5/M6 with their obviously beastly power.
http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/tesla/s/ride Also, the 270 mile range is only at lower speeds. Start driving it at high speeds and the range goes down dramatically. Look, I love the Tesla. I love the entire concept of the car. If I was in the market for another third car, I would buy it in a heartbeat. But I have my SUV and my sports car and third daily beater already. The Tesla is a luxury sedan. It's got good performance for what it is but it's not a sports car. I didn't cross shop it with my 911 and I doubt anyone else does if they're looking for a sports car.
