Memphis wouldn't want Asik. Gasol and Randolph have the 5 & 4 locked down. No one in the league wants whiny Asik if they can't put him in the starting lineup. Memphis is in need of outside shooters. Therefore, Conley is not on the table. I believe they'll take Prince for Lin or maybe Allen + Filler for Lin and play him as a SG.
I don't think Houston will be interested in trading for Thaddeus Young and his contract, as I'm not sure that Young is really an improvement over Terrence Jones, plus, the team's cap flexibility takes a hit. I do think Houston would like to get Spencer Hawes. This works: Omer Asik to Boston; Spencer Hawes and a protected first round pick (from Boston) to Houston; Donatas Motiejunas, a Rockets second round pick, and Keith Bogans (expiring contract) to Philly This trade also works if you substitute Portland for Boston and Robin Lopez for Keith Bogans. Hawes is probably just a rental for Houston, as he is setting himself up nicely for someone to give him something like four years, $36 mil to be their starting C. Houston obviously does not give Hawes that kind of money.
Why would Sam do this trade...??? Hawes is ballin out of control on an expiring contract... Asik would put Philly in the same situation as the Rockets with Howard and Asik with Noel and Asik and plus he's owed $15 million next year... If that's the case they can just keep Hawes and pay him because centers are hard to find and at this point he's better than Asik and would fit better with Noel at a cheaper price than what they would be paying Asik... And Young can ball... So why switch him out with a PF with no defense...
and have another PG who requires the ball in the current system? Dragic is playing well rihgt now but you have to realize, the offense runs through Dragic and his usage rate is pretty high.
I know I just put this together, but I should point out that I think Philly is able to squeeze more out of somebody else for Spencer Hawes, Donatas Motiejunas + a second round pick is a weak package that will get trumped. I do not think Houston overpays for Hawes. Hawes likely ends up somewhere else. I do believe Morey has a deal on the table for Asik, and is working the phones to see if he can do better. I think Asik gets traded right on Dec 15. Enjoy Asik while you can! Dec 15 is exactly two weeks away!
We are almost a complete team. All we need is a backup sf for Chandler Parsons, and have Garcia be the backup to Harden. Since we are deep at the pg position what about trading one of our pg's for a sf. Lin for Harkless/Nelson Bev for T.Ross Lin/1rd for Aflalo
We don`t need 10 great players - we basically need to find a great group of 8 that we can rely on in the playoffs, and some more for insurrance. Right now we have 9: Beverly Lin Harden Parsons Garcia TJones Casspi Howard Asik We don`t need another rotational player (still have Brooks, Smith and DMo) - if we do a trade we do it to upgrade at least one of the 9 players listed above and perhaps to make another one expendable. Right now it seems tough to upgrade on our starting 5 (I´ll include Lin in the starting 5 for this argument). Beverly seems safe because of his contract and energy. That leaves Garcia and Casspi. TJones and Asik may need to be included, because they are probably our best trading chips. But this should show you, it is not easy to upgrade this team. That`s why so many people on here say: only do a trade if you get a star in return.
Snell is good... Has the make up to be an elite perimeter defender (Chicago knows what they are doing when drafting players that can play defense)... He's also a catch and shoot player with 3 point range. Those where his strengths coming out of college. He can play the 3 and 2 position. He got his first couple of starts for Chicago recently and did very well. I like Terrence Ross too... I'm sure T Jones would like that since T Jones was T Ross' s point guard in high school up in Portland.
I disagree... I tend to believe that a few of these guys are benefiting from being on the floor with Harden and Howard and are having success because of the system the Rockets run. Replace one of those guys and or add a guy with a higher talent level and they would probably get even better production.
Everyone that says the team doesn't have any glaring holes is ignoring the fact that we need a wing defender.
