Morey had almost no asset to flip when he came in. The few assets he did have, he flipped a 40pt summer league performance for Ron Artest. And he flipped our long time starting PG for a backup PG with attitude issues.

And if you were to believe that Morey was already making decisions in his first year here(when CD was still GM), he traded Rudy Gay for Shane Battier.

And you better believe that if there's a prime Battier clone in the league right now, Morey just might trade Jones for him.

Didn't Morey trade Brooks when his value was high too? For a player (Dragic) who was underperforming at that time given he had Nash as a mentorfor two years.

Well I have seen Morey work, and I"m aware that he's traded players while their stock was high before, but only when he gets the better deal out of it. I should have been more clear: I dont' think Morey will trade TJ for anything less than an all-star. (Probably with some picks or fillers as well)

Everyone wants us to make that one trade which nets us that person to help us go over the top in just 1 trade which could suspend our future cap. I expect morey to make multiple trades and signings which acculmatle to something special

Just when we're starting to have chemistry???

Morey will be very careful to mess around with that. In fact, I think he will consult with our two biggest stars before he makes any move.

Why trade Jones? The team loves him, he's playing extremely well on both sides of the ball. He's only 21. Can any of you honestly say you know what his ceiling is? I'd say it's at least Josh Smith. Would you trade josh smith on 3 more years of a rookie contract?

We're winning with this kid. Short of LA or Kevin Love I don't see how we'd upgrade the 4 spot. I say let things play out. I think Jones is the starting 4 we've been looking for.

Please no, I'm absolutely loving Jones' game right now. This dude has massive upside considering how young he is. He had an exceptional game against an ELITE team like the Spurs and the kid will get even better when the team develops more chemistry as the season goes on.

Doesn't this apply to all trades made by all GMs? 99+% of trade proposals, even Morey himself admits, don't go through. There's a reason why Morey basically "wins" all his trades. It's because he never panics and trade for Bargnani just because.

I think Morey will be smart enough not to make any trades involving the starting 5 and Lin at this point.

Good post, I think he will still consider a certain trades if it's just too good. But for the most part he is not going roster shuffle like he has in the past because he finally got what he wanted after doing that over the years a (contender). We talk a lot about the spurs but we have to understand they keep their core together and have built so much chemistry over the years. That's why I want the core to stay here, parsons, Howard, harden, jones, bev, Lin

Is that an advanced stat? o_O

I can imagine 80% of trades not happening, but 99% seems like an incredibly exagerrated number.

    80% would mean 1 out of 5.
    90% would mean 1 out of 10.
    95% would mean 1 out of 20.
99% would mean 1 out of 100! Thats a big jump.

Ok here is the thing some of you guys don't seem to realize because it keeps getting regurgitated on a daily basis...Aldridge and Love are not coming through that door! Forget about it already! Our only real chance at LMA died when Portland decided to be a playoff team this year. They have hope now that they have the pieces in place they need to build a strong team around him and he seems happy now. Our only shot at Kevin Love would be if he demanded a trade or threatens to leave in free agency. As long as they keep winning, don't bet on that either. Those two players coming here are long shots at best with LMA probably being one that you almost definitely just need to give up on completely. Barring injury, Portland seems to be legit. Then there are guys like Bosh and Ibaka that are mentioned. I can't see Miami trading Bosh this year for any reason. They will defend their title. Do we really want to give OKC Asik and Jones for Ibaka? I think that makes them a better team and even harder for us to beat. Asik covers up one of their biggest weaknesses, gets Perkins out of the lineup, and Jones gives them poor man Ibaka numbers right now at 21 years old. Just my opinions.

    I'm not sure it's exaggerated.

Consider that the GM's are in constant contact with each other, and there's 29 other teams. The GM's are bantering around potential trades from both ends. So if 29 GM's contact Morey once, and Morey contacts each other team once, that's 58 proposed trades and most likely even more if you count proposals that are off the cuff.

If you mean 99/100 trades that reach serious discussion fail, then it's an exaggeration. However, if 99/100 trades means every time someone throws a proposal in the air and a lot just get shut down immediately, then 99/100 is quite plausible over an 82 game season.

For example, let's say that Cleveland calls the Rockets and wants to trade Dion Waiters.

    They then say,

    "How about Dion for X?"
    "How about Dion for Y?"
    "How about Dion for Z?"

You can look that that as 3 proposed trades, or as 1 proposed trade involving Waiters. Depending on how you count it, you can be at 99/100, or far, far less.

You don't trade jones for a aging third star when Jones is looking like he could easily be your third star . And he went head to head with those people you said you want and he outshines them

Is Omer Asik/Terrence Jones a viable trade chip for Kevin Love?

It sounds ridiculous, but Minnesota is struggling and they're is no chance he returns.

You make trades until you are an elite team, then you stop and let the pieces mesh.

The Rockets dont need to trade anyone.

Before, it was Asik for Millsap.

    Now, it's Asik+Jones for Horford.

    Any takers?

he got Dragic AND a 1st round pick for AB. Now the Suns have Dragic back, we have AB back and had the use of a 1st round pick for our efforts.

DM typically gets max value in trades and seldom settles for anything less.
