One vital thing Omer does for us is to prevent other teams from going all out in trying to foul Dwight out. Dwight is such an easy guy to jump at, or to flop against, that I believe we would be seeing a lot more of that BS if Omer wasn't sitting there on the bench as a threat to other teams. Now they KNOW they're not gonna draw fouls to get themselves out of this mess. If Dwight is doing real well, they can still try to draw fouls on him, but the drop off is much less than it would be otherwise.

As long as we're going like we are, I say keep him. At least until the All-Star break. Some games like the Nets one you just love having the ability to call on Asik to play 30+ minutes for you. There will be some back to backs that we just want to rest Dwight for, you know, the bumps and bruises of a normal schedule.

Every game he plays just highlights his offensive ineptness. The sooner you trade him the better for all parties.

Then we need a good back up center. Dwight get into foul trouble a lot.

Dwight get's fouls called on him for using moves Shaq use to do, it was ok for Shaq, but it seems like he's being targeted.. a lot of the fouls called on him, are not fouls

He would probably start pouting again if he is not moved by trade deadline

    So trade happens.

Yeah I agree with most people here. I think they've told him to keep his mouth shut and play and that if he does, they will accommodate his trade request when they get an offer for him that they like. They probably explained that several trade possibilities can't even take place until after December 15th and that they will try to have something done by the deadline, but that they won't just give him away. In the famous words of the famous poet Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson..."Know your role and shut your mouth!"

I know I'm getting way, way ahead of myself but I don't see the Rockets beating Indiana in the finals without Asik. Too many big bodies on that team.

We are building a Championship team NOW, after all. Don't look to unload this guy without getting major talent in return.

Greg Smith can fit that role adequately, then you have DMO.

How? By all means, we want to keep him, but he doesn't want. With emergence of TJones, the need to have a stretch 4 has vastly diminished. Now, we can afford to wait for a good offer.

BTW, how bad is it to back up D.Howard?

    Asik for Robin Lopez

According to the NY Daily News http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...nce-knicks-fire-mike-timing-article-1.1526800
the Trailblazers asked officially for Asik against Robin Lopez. Accept it, and forget about Howard's dream candidate Ryan Anderson, his old buddy from Orlando.

We need not another 4, we already have a better TJ. We need a backup center for a tired Howard. Robin Lopez has about the same stats as Asik, but has no poisoned contract. 5mill/year is okay. Take it.

I would do Asik for Lopez/Mcollum or Asik for Lopez/1rd pick.

(sigh) Asik and Lopez have similar stats because Lopez is a starter and Asik is (unhappily) left to carry Howard's jock.

How can this be a winner when it makes our team worse?

Unless that 1st rounder turns into a player that can displace someone already in the rotation with someone who does that job better, I dont see it.

If your argument is that is the best we can hope for, then I rather not do a trade at all.

But on top of all of the above, I would not be thrilled with making Portland better than they already are. If have to make a trade that helps the other team more than us, then lets either do it with a eastern conference team or a western team that has no hope of playoff contention.
