You really need to work on reading comprehension or understand what circus shots and reliable shots are. If his floaters, hooks, and scoops (all of them have huge motions by the way) were reliable, he would be driving in a LOT more and defenses would actually respect his game outside his 3pt shot. There is reason why he basically averages as many 3pt attempts as he does 2pt attempts. Even Stephen Curry started with basically a 2:1 ratio on 2PT/3PT until he started getting hurt.
I think Brooks hits them at a respectable clip. Before getting too high on him or w.e I think we just need to wait. His confidence is always an issue, lets see if he can hold his composure if his shots aren't falling.
I am waiting on seeing how he embraces his new role as well. It is just hilarious how all these dumb posters want him to start because he has gaudy offensive numbers, even though he is a complete one trick pony.
Brooks requires shots to be effective. The Rockets starting lineup with Bev currently needs 0.10 shots per minute more than is available. Bev can contribute to the starting lineup without requiring shots, simply by being a pest defensively and on the offensive glass. The coaching staff has nailed this one.
Perhaps what truly needs work is your basketball IQ? He shoots threes because that's what the system calls for. He drives (and scores) when appropriate. It's really not that hard to comprehend. I'm not saying he should start, nor have I ever called for that, but to call him a one-trick three-point shooting pony is disengenous.
You are so wrong it is not even funny. Please actually develop an IQ period before you start talking about other people. If Yao Ming was actually healthy when AB was the starting PG, then yes the tons of threes are to be expected. Thing is, when AB was playing, our top players were first AB, Ariza, and Scola and then later on AB, Kmart, and Scola. Now if we are talking about shooting a lot of 3's in our current system, then I would agree, but AB is not starting for us is he? The other thing idiots calling for AB starting need to consider is that he is a complete and absolute negative on defense. Combining that with the complete lack of D coming from Harden spells only disaster.
Dude, you have been an AB hater for years, and were crying for Lowry to start - it must be KILLING you and others that the guy is still a really good rotational level starting PG. You were wrong then, you are wrong now. I doubt anyone really believes that AB should be starting - I certainly don't - but to deny that the guy is a quality NBA player is stupid. 100% accurate - he is a good starting level PG, who has deficiencies due to his size, but his vision is fine, his passing is good, his handles are excellent and his shooting deadly. On some teams he would be the lead dog - playing the Harden like role - but those would tend to not be really good teams...lol. Brooks is a good player and we are lucky to have him. Folks are just pissed that they were wrong about him years ago, and continue to be wrong today. DD
he is kinda a three point shooting on trick pony now a days He was good when he played for us before because he was much much quicker than the other guards and could blow past them and create offense, that's what made him valueble, he complimented his quickness with a three point shot. I think the injury destroyed his quickness which is what made him a rising star. Although if he could get his quickness back, then he will be more useful now
Statistically speaking, Bev is towards the bottom of starting guards in the NBA. To my eye-test he's doing OK. Whats most important is that we are winning. If Bev's stats deteriorate much further, we should consider other options. Unfortunately, i have no faith in the coaching staff to correct mistakes when it comes to player rotations.
One trick pony - my bottom.... He is just as quick, has a floater now, and has many shots at the rim, what he doesn't have is the ball in his hand all game long - nor should he, we have a much better team now. But he is pretty much the same level player - only a little more mature - the guy is 28 years old for crying out loud, he won't start declining athleticially for a few more years. And if a one trick pony shoots 53% from 3pt range - then that is as good as Dwight being a one trick dunker. BTW - I expect Brooks percentage to come down some - to around the 40% mark - just as Chandlers is now coming up....and so should Hardens. DD
Last night is the 2nd consecutive game he held the opposing starting PG to 0 FGs. I think he's doing what the coaching staff expects him to do in the starting lineup (i.e., on-ball defense & free up touches for the scorers).
There you go again DD. You are the last person that can tell anyone that they suck at figuring out how good a player actually is. Your "predictions" were so laughably bad that we started associated your preference as a "curse" because that's how reliably wrong it has been. :roll eyes: I didn't want AB to start and I still don't. Lowry is a definitely starter on a team in this league whereas AB is not, so hey I am still actually right. Does that mean I want Lowry on this team? Not after his spat with McHale, but I still think he is a much better player than AB. If AB was actually better like you believe, then a team would have picked him up before we did. Again, I am OK with having him on our team as long as he knows his role. As for anyone believing, have you taken a look at this thread you are participating in? People are suggesting that we replace Bev (our starter) with AB (a situational role player). Nice try though. It must be KILLING you to know that you are constantly wrong about the role players you embrace.
See folks, you just got to know how to force them to bend to your will to get the truth. Now you can ignore chenjy9 on all things Brooks as he is NOT an impartial observer. Thanks for playing along chenjy9. DD
So delusional. I love it. Do you even know what you're arguing for or against at this point or are you just a BOH? Who cares about the old team and system? Why even bring them up? And what does it matter if he's starting or not? Is his role not to be a shooter/scorer? Why do you keep shifting the goal posts around? It's cute, really. Why do you keep mentioning people wanting Brooks to start when replying to me? Did you miss the part where I said I wasn't for him starting? For someone who complains about reading comprehension...
Bev is doing just fine...stop looking for excuses to dislike players, and just enjoy our Teams Effort
LOL whatever man. Traditionally, I have been "right" far more times than you can ever dream of. You have been wrong about virtually every single role player you fell in love with, but hey, if that makes you feel somehow good about yourself, go ahead!
"Herp Derp! DD" is all I see coming from you, especially when it comes to evaluating talent. PS If I am such a hater, find a single thread saying I didn't want AB on this team. Back then I wanted AB benched for Lowry and if the 2 are both still on our team, I still stand by that position.
