Cleveland's draft picks....tsk, tsk. Kyrie Irving was a no-brainer. Thompson, he's okay. Waiters, while talented, was a misfire, and Bennett...? Tsk tsk.
PF skill set, SF height, Eddy Curry weight. + Asthma + Sleeping issues All while being on a poorly run team and organization with locker room and chemistry problems. And add to that - a crappy coach. I haven't seen him play so I can't condemn him just yet, but if he isn't a bust, I'll be impressed.
the only time the combination of fat and undersized worked was charles barkley, and bennett is nowhere near as athletic as chuck.
I should also add Bennett was not able to workout before the draft because of a shoulder injury. So it's not like he wowed them in person. professorjay, do you have insight on why they drafted a fat, short, injured player at #1 besides the worn out argument "they felt he had the most upside"?
CB Actually got in shape for a few years. Here he is looking almost skinny in his Philly days... Spoiler
So looks like Cleveland is about to be the team with one of the greatest 1st pick of all time and one of the worse 1st pick of all time. I guess that's something.
Cavs screwed themselves with this one. Didn't they know about his medical condition before the draft??
The Cavs passed up the obvious best player available in Noel. I have no idea what they were thinking. PHI has a bright future because of it. The Cavs? Dark endless corridors to navigate attempting to become relevant again in the NBA.
Morey made similar comments about Joey (Ray Lewis) Dorsey. What makes fat and short guys "NBA ready"?
Yes, Bennett is a bust, and will likely remain a bust. With Waiters soon to be traded, Cavs should have drafted Oladipo.
The Cavs have never drafted BPA, their drafts in the Irving era has always been pcking the guy they thought was the most NBA ready. If they were pickng BPA, they wouldve sported a trio of Irving, barnes and Valanciunas instead of that crap they have there right now.
