i got to last nights game about an hour and a half early. i saw harden warming up on the practice court without limitations. whatever this injury is, it is nothing to be worried about. this is clearly a precautionary move by our staff. i think he will be back for SA game...
It's not serious. However, the problem with bursitas is it does not heal if you do not rest it. Moving the affected area only causes further inflammation. Considering the fact that Harden plays professional basketball, it may explain his seemingly lack of recovery progress.
I am actually pretty happy the rockets are still winning in spite of Harden being out with the injury. As far as im concerned they can afford to sit him against the Nets and play him on the second half of the back to back against San Antonio. After having a fantastic pre season he got hurt in the first or second game if I am not mistaken and has never quite fully recovered.
I agree. Or just let him play 15-20 minutes against the Nets if he's ready to play. Minimize his minutes as much as possible since it's the beginning of a back to back as you state.
I remember when Peyton Manning had bursitis in his knee. The bursa sack got infected and had to be removed and he was out for like 6 weeks.
Bursitis is annoying. Had it in my knee and shoulder. The inflammation just seems to not want to go away. Wonder if a shot of cortizone would be legal?
Bursitis doesn't tell you the cause of the inflammation. It's a diagnosis much like "fever". If someone has a fever, it could be caused by one of a hundred different things: the flu, the common cold, malaria, malnutrition, etc. Saying, "Oh they know it's bursitis it's not a big deal" is akin to saying, "Oh they know it's fever it's not a big deal" without them actually saying what is causing the fever in the first place. Foot problems in general are incredibly difficult to diagnose, and the most common treatment is literally "rest". But having Harden take a few days off to let the swelling go down is not the same thing as them knowing what the real problem is and properly addressing it. For all we know he could have a hairline fracture or tendon/ligament damage that flares up as bursitis when he uses his feet in game-like conditions.
I would think if he had a hairline fracture or tendon / ligament damage we would see him wearing a boot to immobilize it. Whatever the problem, it has been a lingering one.
I have a friend who knows a doctor and he says the symptoms are highly likely to be related to Boogie Fever.
i hope we can at lest suit him up. Don't have to start him, but in case we need him for a good 10 mins or so to play, that he's avalible. Which i don't think we'll need to. brooklyn is awful.
Harden had his feet in a mop bucket on the sideline during the game, & was limping off court after the game was over. he looked great on D & hustled throughout the game this is the big issue with tonight's game. Wonder how long it will take for him to be fully healthy. Seems like the foot issue is still there.
McHale said that had Jeremy Lin not gotten hurt, Harden likely would not have played tonight. - @clutchfans
