Half the threads i read seems to start from you Carl lol. If the rockets were to trade Tjones, I don't know what kind of deal Rockets would get back...2nd round? late 1st round pick?
If TJones can avg 12-14 points and 8-10 rebounds a game with good defense and can hit an occasional three to stretch the defense then he's exactly what we've been looking for really.
lol...that's true...for the right price...but it would take alot for him to trade Harden - I cant see him trading Harden for anything less than one of the other top 5 players in the league.
The weakness of T Jones will not be exposed for as long he is not going up against ZBo, G Davis, Aldridge, Boozer, BGriffin, or West. I GUARANTEE that TJones will become the focal point of attack from oppositions in some games. Until he proves himself against the top offensive PF's, we should all tone down our expectation.
Why on earth would we trade a guy that appears to be developing into EXACTLY what we want? He's a fantastic player.
That's just it. He doesn't seem to have a weakness. If he does, they are well hidden. He does a little bit of everything well. If he isn't scoring, he's rebounding, blocking shots and/or playing good defense.
I don't think you should trade him just because he is high. Not with the potential he has displayed. Spoiler
I think his trade value is high, but mostly because of his contract. Good teams build through the draft. Jones and Parsons are two of our drafted players that are starters still on a rookie contract. You keep him here, let him develop and retain his Bird Rights.
I think Terrence Jones is just beginning to show his immense ability because he is getting big minutes for the first time in his career. I don't think this is just an aberration either. I think this is how TJ can perform on a nightly basis given the opportunity and the increased minutes since he has been starting for about 2 weeks now. The team looks and IS light years better with TJ starting instead of the failed "2nd Twin Towers" experiment. The Rockets are winning the 1st and 3rd quarters 90% of the time and getting the jump on the opponent, which is something that cant be overstated with so much parity in the league. TJ's all-around game has improved so much since last year. He has always had potential, which can be a curse to so many as we have witnessed time and again in the NBA. His tweener label can also be a curse, but I think TJ is proving it to be a boon as his 4 size and 2-3 handles, athleticism and shooting ability(which is greatly improved) have allowed him to do so many of the things the Rockets need out of their 4 and have been missing for, well it seems like forever. I hope the Rockets hold onto TJ and see what this team is capable of. I hope they stand pat right up until the trade deadline. If they need to make a trade to improve, sobeit. But if TJ maintains his performance, I see no need to make a trade...
Agreed completely. And since his current performance is really the only thing that has been missing from this Rockets squad, I see no reasonable reason that we should entertain any trade ideas for TJ short of LMA. Even then, I don't know for sure that I would like to part ways with TJ. I think TJ is exactly what the doctor ordered and if he can continue to put up such great numbers getting starter minutes, there is really no acceptable reason for the Rockets to trade TJ at all. Asik will be on the block until we get exactly what Morey wants for him. But even the shopping list for Morey has changed I would imagine since TJ is really putting a great foot forward and giving Rockets' brass every reason to not make any trades short of getting the absolute best steal from whatever team will give us a 1st rounder or 2, plus some other filler picks in the 2nd round and a capable role player for Asik. I think TJ is becoming the answer so many stretch 4 and long-term 4 answers that have been asked on this forum and of this team for the past few years while we searched for a "stretch 4" who could do all of the things TJ has been doing, and doing them as well as he has been doing them. I think TJ's development is a great boon for the Rockets organization and will let us gain the max value from trading Asik. I think we have found our stretch 4, God willing and can move on to maximizing the output we get from our Asik trade and anything else Morey can drum up for our huge stash of foreign 2nd rounders and plethora of current 2nd round picks, plus we now own ALL of our future 1st rounders from here on out. The future is bright for the Rockets, hold onto TJ
Really??? Dwight ain't waiting a few years for TJones to develop into a quality contributing starter. Also, we have won a few games against teams that are not contenders and the games we lost exposed our weaknesses. TJones has made some nice cuts to the basket for some decent looks (I like his shot selection) but can he live up to everyone's hype? Guys like LMA consistently average 20+ points per game year in and year out. I would easily trade TJones for a guy like LMA, because we need to put together a contender sooner rather than later and it would be dumb if TJones was the piece that was holding up a deal for LMA. Other players I would be willing to part with TJones for would be Ibaka, Love, Bosh and maybe even Josh Smith.
