In their defense, they give you enough VC points when starting up the mode that you can just use that to unlock the ability to edit lineups IIRC. Of course, you have to decide how to use those points (should you be able to edit lineups, hire a training staff, hire coaches, etc.). The editing of lineups should just be a given though IMO, along with a few other things. I think you can enable most of that with very little playtime (and the rest of the things you can spend points on are "abilities" to improve your coaching, trade negotiations, contract negotiations, etc., which is OK with me for the most part). So while it is pretty ridiculous that you have to EARN the ability to edit your lineups, at least you don't have to grind for 10 hours to get to that point.

I'll also admit that while I don't like the currency stuff, I'm not sure if the MyCareer mode is more "grindey" that normal. It seems mostly the same as past games from what I can recall. Of course, they were pretty grindey too (maybe they foresaw doing this eventually?). This decision might be why they push transactions to go through their servers though (instead of doing everything locally), and that has been pretty horrible. Honestly, if you can deal with that issue (and the usual horrible design decisions/bugs of MyCareer), I'm not sure 2K has really made things that much worse with this mode. MyGM seems more affected I think (and possible other modes). 2K has an Ultimate Team mode thing too, though I haven't really checked it out to see how it compares to EA's implementation of that feature. I would assume it is just as bad.

They kind of do, especially in regards to the content available. I'm sure F5 is a step up in many ways to F4, but it is also a step back (in many eyes) in others (at least partly due to microtransactions).

Quoting from the NeoGAF thread about the content differences:
Instead of only offering 150-175 "good" cars and 25-50 "nice, but you don't really need them" cars, maybe they should have just put together 200 "good" cars? Or put that time into more tracks? Fixed the "cardboard cutout" crowds? Or just made this game F2P altogether? To be honest, I think they designed a great F2P game here, but they decided to charge $60 for it instead of giving it away.

There's just too many decisions clearly motivated by greed with Forza 5. I don't care how good the "core gameplay" is, that's not a good game IMO (certainly not one I'd recommend to anyone).

Anyone else download toymaker? It works well. I drew stuff on the tablet and flicked it onto the screen for the robots to play with.

I played with it briefly last night. Drew a pink Trogdor and had the bots play with it.

Do you realize how nitpicky this is? I mean, who cares if there is no public lobbies? What's the point of a public lobby when you can join randoms, chat, and race anyways? It's just not called a "Public Lobby"...this wasnt a move by the devs to make money.

No gifting of cars? Okay, Ive never been gifted any car from a friend in any previous Forza game...however, When I check my "messages" in the game to earn my drivatar money, I have been gifted 2 cars from the Forza team, so Ive already accrued more cars from "gifting" than any previous Forza I have ever played.

No Auction House or store front...okay, but I can still buy (or sell) tuning set ups and custom designs from people...it's just not called a "Storefront" anymore.

Tuning has been dumbed down...okay, maybe they took away 2 tuning options out of 100+, that's hardly dumbed down. But they added a couple options too that werent in previous Forzas.

No affinity for car parts? Is this such a change that event warrants a mention? They take away a few percentage points in buying car parts, yet...did the NeoGAF thread mention that you can earn 65% more money by going up against harder drivatars or up to 50% more money with turning off assists? They also still have Car Affinity in the game, and from what I remember, the payout on that is been the same or even higher.

The fact of the matter is that people love to complain...they like to find fault...and they like to scream and shout about it on the internet. For every person that has mentioned they have a broken PS4/Xbox, there are 1000 others that have zero issues. Same concept applies here.

I just find it funny that you'd never recommend this game to anyone, when you havent played yourself (Not sure which previous Forza games you have spent time with)...fact of the matter is that you are commenting on something that you dont have experience with. It would be like me telling you that you shouldnt play Knack, bc every single site I go on to read about it makes it seem like a crap filled, but slightly charming game, that gets old after a couple hours.

Like I had said previously, maybe in a couple months, I will change my tune with microtransactions...but Turn 10 has already stated that they are monitoring the in-game economy and open to making changes if need be. If in a couple months, Im killing myself trying to buy one of those 5 million dollar cars, I'll be sure let everyone know that this game is ruined bc of microtransactions.

    EDIT

By the way, in previous Forza games, you had to finish 1st, 2nd, or 3rd to earn medals to make some money. In this game, you get a gold for finishing in the first 3 spots, a silver for finishing in the top 7 spots, etc... Therefore, theyve actually made it easier to earn money from races.

Some of those are (some of them definitely are not), but my point was more along the lines that some people will see this as a step back due to this thing being removed/cutback. Instead of working on these premium cars that they want to sell for $50+ (or the Day 1 DLC), perhaps they could have spent some time adding these features back in (or other features like them).

Shame on those people for thinking that $60 games shouldn't be implementing F2P business models in their games.

This is a very different scenario, and I don't know why you feel the need to defend this. The amount of people that were actually complaining about XBO/PS4 issues were pretty small in comparison to the people who are complaining about microtransactions in their $60 games (and Forza isn't the only game to get this treatment). There is a large backlash against this. Closer to the anti-DRM/anti-always online movement IMO.

If you push day 1 DLC, microtransactions, fee to pay, etc., I probably won't be recommending your game to anyone, regardless of your core gameplay. This applies to games like NBA 2K14 and GT6 as well (though I don't think things are as bad in those games), among others. What is strange is these games seem to push microtransactions more than a F2P game like Warframe does, even though microtransactions are the only way DE gets any money for Warframe!

There are mixed opinions about whether Knack's gameplay is any good (some people will enjoy it, others won't...as noted by the user review scores and impressions online), but no one should really like these kind of business practices.

There are SO many great games out there, I don't really see the point in buying these games with these bad practicies. Quit rewarding them by buying their games. Reward these other companies that do it right (and also have great games). I'm sure Forza 5's gameplay is pretty solid, but it isn't worth this IMO. No game is.

edit: Sounds like Turn10 is tweaking things based on the backlash. Can't get rid of the microtransactions (which is what most would want I think), but guess they might lower the costs of the cars to be in-line with normal expectations.

I haven't shared a video yet, but if I'm not mistaken, they can be uploaded to Facebook (only Facebook for now I think...maybe Twitch/Ustream too, though I think those might be for live broadcasts only?). I suppose you can just share directly from there, or I guess you can download the clip from Facebook and upload to Youtube or whatever.

I don't particularly care for that part of the implementation. I would like the ability to upload directly to Youtube (and possibly other services), and I could then share that link like I would any video. Or just let me take the video file straight off the PS4 itself, and I'd upload it via a PC, smartphone/tablet, etc., like I would any video.

So I went to this place called Gameplus. I called them and they told me they had a PS4 available. When I got there, the employee told me the PS4 is only available if you purchase two $60 games as well (not as a bundle, games were sold seperately).

I was fine with that. I was planning on getting Battlefield 4 and Nba 2k14 anyway, but "supposedly" they had just sold out. Instead, my selection was limited to Assasins Creed: Black Flag and Injustice: Gods Among Us, both which I didnt really want but got it just to buy the PS4.

What got me a little suspicious was one of the games was not wrapped or sealed, it looked used but they still sold it at full price.

Are they allowed to do this? At first I thought they were a small independently run store or a "mom and pop shop" so I guess they can make their own sales. But it turns out there's about four or five of these stores around Houston, so theyre not really a mom and pop shop.

So are they in the wrong here? Did I get hustled?

Yep you got hustled. Gameplus is a store for retro games, PS4 is not retro, it's not what they specialized in so knowing that people were looking to get a PS4 they look for a weak prey and that would be you. It happens and please don't ever buy a next gen console at a 2nd end shop. 2nd end shops are made for old skool gamers, remember that. I'm guessing this was in Northside?

Take those games to a different Gameplus and exchange it for the games you want.

I hate how if you're subscribed to PS+ you still get all of the ad copy marketing PS+. I shouldn't have to see that **** EVER if I'm a paid subscriber. Lazy.

So i dont know if this is true, but my friend told me he only payed a little over 600 hundred for a package of the xbox one and 2 games. I payed 640 for the ps4 and 2 games, and thats without getting the camera wich the xbox one already comes with, did the xbox come with 2 free games? Or was my friend wrong?

Anyways, 2k14, Killzone and AC black flag are all amazing.

I don't think you "got hustled". GameStop does this too. I believe you got their last copy so they gave you their display copy which was already opened. The last time GS tried this on me I told them no. You're not going to give me a copy that's already open then tell me that if I "open it" I can't return it. Ridiculous.

You paid 640 for a PS4 and 2 games? How?

PS4 = $400, even with tax and 1 day shipping that was $440 for me.
    2 games + tax = $130

    440+120= $570

Where'd you lose the extra $70?

Also if you friend ordered online and is in a state where they don't require sales tax still, and got free shipping that could be totally accurate. 500+120= 620.
