Rondo has exactly 1 ring, and the year that they won KG, PJ Brown, Allen and Pierce had more to do with winning than Rondo. I guess you could technically say he was one of the best if you say he's a top 5 player on the championship team but that doesn't make him a superstar. How can Rondo even be considered a superstar when he worse than the guys listed below (in no order): 1. LBJ 2. KD 3. CP3 (same position) 4. Tim Duncan 5. Parker (same position) 6. Dirk Nowitzki 7. Harden 8. Dwight 9. WestBrook (same position) 10. Kevin Love 11. Steph Curry (same position) 12. Paul George 13. Healthy Drose (same position) etc. What exactly does a superstar mean to you? You have at least 13 guys absolutely better than Rondo, and at least 5 guys better than him at his spot. I'd argue Jeremy Lin on a good day is just as good if not better than Rondo, do you think Lin's a superstar?
I also cannot help but think that Houston does not go after Dion Waiters, especially since he kind of sucks!
What about getting Goran back? He's an upgrade over any of our guards and he's not a liability in any facet of his game. This could be a possible trade deadline move. Hou trades- Lin, Asik, Dmo Get- Dragic, Frye, Thompson PHX trades- Dragic, Frye Get- McLemore, Asik, Dmo, Fredette Sac trade- McLemore, Thompson, Fredette Get- Lin Dragic/Bev/Brooks Harden/Garcia/Brewer Parsons/Casspi Jones/Frye Howard/Thompson/Smith
I really think with the emergence of Jones, Morey will be targeting a quality wing defender who shoots 3s and a guaranteed lottery pick similar to the Lowry trade. There are a few teams that are fringe playoff teams that may be willing to do it. Charlotte(move big all to the 4) Washington (even if they just got gortat)(unlikely though) Cleveland New Orleans Portland Denver Los lakers Now there well be some competition because Hawes is available and Ben playing out of his mind. This being a loaded draft class also hurts our odds. But we can definitely trade him to a team looking for an improvement inside that's willing to pay the price. It also doesn't necessarily have to be for this years draft, it could be a later draft.
With no obvious team needs, Daryl Morey will likely position himself for the next quantity for quality trade, while simultaneously improving the team's cap flexibility heading into the offseason. Translation: look for Omer Asik to get flipped for an expiring contract and either a) a promising (and cheap!) first or second year player or b) a future first round pick. As I've been saying for 2+ months, Portland can trade Robin Lopez (good role player, expiring contract) with either C.J. McCollom or Portland's 2016 or 2017 first round pick. In addition, do not be surprised if Houston trades Jeremy Lin for a similar package. As I've argued for 2+ months, Milwaukee is a likely trade partner, although Houston may be more interested in a future Bucks first round pick (packaged with Caron Butler's expiring contract) than in Ersan Ilyasova. Also, Donatas Motiejunas is a non-rotation player and that probably will not change, so look for him to be moved before the February trade deadline. I honestly think Morey will trade the guy for a second round pick at this point. Motiejunas may instead simply be added as sweetener in one of the two proposed deals above. With the two (or three) deals above, Houston has positioned itself to acquire the next big name star who becomes available, since Houston will have all of its own first round picks plus the picks acquired from Portland and Milwaukee, plus Chandler Parsons and/or Patrick Beverley and/or Terrence Jones. Houston should also have enough cap space next summer to pursue Luol Deng or a similar very good but non-max salary veteran.
My dream trade at the deadline: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lpmaqxc Seems to work for both teams, turns us into contenders and T-Wolves into a very, very good team with a front court of Asik and Peko and Kmart as the 6th man sparkplug. Love will work magic in our offense, give Howard space to operate and Lin to drive in, and unlike other stretch 4's he's also a superstar himself and will make people pay if they ignore him.
sounds vey morey like.... The Portland one seems interesting but Asik/LMA scares me in a first round match... That Blazer team would be able to beat anyone
Morey would be nuts to trade Asik to Portland unless we were getting LMA in return. You don't gift wrap impact players to division/conference rivals unless you get an impact player in return. If Asik is getting deal for a pick and a backup center, it's all the more important to ship him back East.
I couldn't possible disagree more. Our window is short with Dwight. Not to mention why would we trade our best asset for depth when we have depth. We need one more elite player maker
If we cant make Asik playing alongside Howard work... why would Minnie try playing him alongside Pek?
I think trading Asik to Portland for Lopez and a pick would do nothing but make Portland a strong playoff team and render their first round pick not very valuable. Asik and LMA would be a dangerous combination and the same goes for New Orleans when it comes to trading for Anderson. I can't see Morey risking making those teams much stronger by giving them Asik with minimum in return. Trading for Ersan would probably just be a expensive lateral move especially when they already have Casspi. Because Ersan wouldn't take TJ's starting spot and there's not much difference between him and Casppi _ definitely not $8 million difference (same goes for Ryan Anderson). If the Rockets do trade Asik _ and don't get a center in return, D-Mo may start getting time backing up Howard with Smith and TJ... You can't teach 7 foot (and can shoot) so I don't see him being traded at least not just for the sake of trading him to make room for what may or may not happen in the future. It's not that he's bad the guys in front of him are just playing so good.
My goodness stop with the Kevin Love trades, we have nothing to offer! Asik/Jones/Parsons/3 1rd wouldn't even get Love. Other Teams can offer a whole lot more than we can.
LOL @ these Kevin Love trades. Those are so bad, they look like something you'd see on Lakersground.net
Because Pek can play PF and is actually a good offensive scorer and bruiser, he just needs somebody to defend. Plus, Adelman is an offensive genius compared to Mchale.
If I were the Wolves I would look into trading Love for a Top 6 draft talent plus future first or second rounders in one of the best drafts in a decade.
