Now you are going to make up fact. A sure sign you either know nothing are got owned too badly. The Rockets led the league all season as the best offensive team in the league. The final few games the Nuggets barley edge us out. Rockets avg 106 ppg to the Nuggets 106.1 Basically we were the best.
PPG is irrelevant Our offensive rating last year was 109.7 (6th) Our offensive rating this year is 110.2 (4th) I am frankly embarrassed by what you are posting and how you are supporting your arguments.
We're talking about PGs. You can have a defensive/rebound center like Asik or Howard as your starter but your PG better be able to run an offense or get an ast. Jason Kidd was the starting PG for the champions Mavs. he avg 8.2 apg and started 80 games Westbrook and Parker for the Thunder and Spurs.
How is PPG irrelevant when in almost every article on espn and the chronicle they discuss the Rockets and their league best offense. Stop cherry picking dude to make excuses for Beverly. He shouldn't be the starter. He needs to learn how to pass the ball to Howard and run an offense.
Look at the depth some "fans" have to go to make excuses for McHale being a bad coach. Our PG doesn't need to run and offense... is that why Morey tried so hard to land CP3. Since in our system we don't need a PG who can run an offense and actually Idk make a lob pass to the best center in the NBA.
AB looks to have his mojo back. Brooks should start, Beverly should back him up and Lin should be packaged in a trade with Asik while we can still get something of value for him. So far beverly doesn't look like an NBA starting pg.
I'm going to bed. I'd just like to say, OP was clearly defeated. Besides which, has lack of real concern for the topic is reflected in his failure to post enough responses. This thread should have two or three times as many posts by OP, but unfortunately, he doesn't truly believe what he is saying. Sweet dreams!
you are really good at cherry picking yourself I don't know what point you are trying to make anyway we were number 1 in ppg last year we are currently number 1 in ppg this year Beverley didn't make our offense worse in face based on offensive ratings we actually improved Also, Mario Chalmers 3.5 assists per game for 2 seasons Heat won the chip Derrick Fisher under 4 assists per game for the 2 seasons Lakers won the chip Now can you stop spewing nonsense and stop embarrassing yourself
Newsflash: Outside of about 10 franchises, and probably fewer, most fanbases are ambivalent at best about their head coach! Currently Employed Head Coaches clearly a step (or several) above McHale: Pop Carlisle Rivers Thibodeau Spoelstra Adelman Vogel Jury's still out on Brett Brown and Brad Stevens, but they seem to really know what they're doing. People will point to Scotty Brooks' team success, but take a look at this poll, posted by yours truly; and this isn't even Thunder fans being surveyed. Mike Brown's won a lot of games but famously can't coach offense. Mike D'Antoni's won a lot of games, but famous can't coach defense. Mike Woodson's done a fine job with the Knicks, but he's about to get scapegoated for the mess of a season they're having. And you know what? Wood wasn't a great coach in his early days with Atlanta! Which brings me to the most important point: if you remember Greg Popovich's early years coaching the Twin Towers, his offensive sets were painfully vanilla. Basically post up iso on the right block for Robinson. Next time up, post up iso on the left block for Duncan. Rivers was a great motivator, but a terrible Xs & Os guy in Orlando and his early years in Boston. Thibs still doesn't quite know how to manage his guys minutes effectively. Spoelstra got killed by the national media in the first year of The Big Three, when their offense consisted of Wade and LeBron just taking turns driving to the rim. Vogel's offense still kind of sucks. Bottom Line: COACHES GET BETTER WITH EXPERIENCE. McHale has credibility with the players thanks to his pedigree as a player, he does a nice job with the media, and has shown a willingness to work closely with our FO, which is the most advanced in the NBA. In terms of minute distribution and in-game adjustments, HE WILL IMPROVE. Have some patience. Have some faith.
We are 11-5, top 5 offense, defense is getting better, and our chemistry is getting better each game. Therefore McHale is doing a d*** good job.
First off the starting Bev statement is just asinine period.... Bev is playing his role and doing a great job at it... Even when the Bulls were winning championships Pippen was the one bringing up the ball.. So not understanding this statement. Second.. Every true scorer has a problem with playing defense (read my statement above).. This even goes for Jordan... It took Jordan years to finally understand that he had to play defense... All scorers have a problem with part of their game... Even old school rockets such as Lloyd and Calvin Murphy... Let's go back further with Ice Man, Bernard King, the Curry's (Father and Son), World B. Free.. I can go on and on... This is a trait he has to learn and develop... It doesn't come over night. But he has to take responsibility and give the effort to play defense and learn to be a better defender.... Second defense is also a Team thing.. not just a one on one thing, especially with the way the rules are today. McHale is learning just like the players and I have seen him start to adjust with the last couple of games and it doesn't matter if it's Minnesota, Atlanta or San Antonio... So your arguments are not making sense and this thread is still not making sense. It seems to me like people are complaining and bring up stuff that just to start mess. T_Man
What is it with you and bev? Why do you dislike the man so much? Is it because he's starting and Lin is not? There have been several post about his role, but yet you have this deep dislike of this man. If he's not doing well then i'm sure McHale will bench him for Brooks or Lin. But right now the man is doing a decent job and yet you are still salty.... T_Man
This isn't a McHale thread, it's a Lin thread. It's always a Lin thread. Lin doesn't get enough playing time, fire McHale. Beverley takes Lin's starting job, trade Beverley. Casspi doesn't pass Lin the ball, bench Casspi. Harden shoots too many shots, trade Harden. It's pathetic. In one offseason of rampaging fanatics, Lin went from one of the worst starting point guards in basketball and a sieve on defense to an experienced veteran all-star point guard and a better defender than Patrick Beverley (aka our best defensive guard) who must have the ball in his hands as the first option so he can facilitate the entire offense despite the fact we have arguably the best shooting guard in basketball and one of the league's leading scorers.
And the Rockets were playing with out the superstar James Harden and Jeremy Lin. They were starting a Power Forward that just a couple of weeks ago everyone on this board would have eagerly traded for Paul Milsap. The Rockets started a Point Guard (Pat Beverly) that almost all of you McHale haters say sucks. The Rockets had to play a 3rd string point guard at both point guard and shooting guard. So yes. Kevin McHale coached an outstanding game. The Rockets won by almost 30 points and scored 113 points with out their two best offensive players.
The Rockets have outscored their opponents by 40 points in the 3rd quarter this season. Since adjustments are typically made during half time, I think that one statistical fact blows your McHale lack of adjustment crap out of the window.
