Rondo is in no way a superstar nor is he even very close to being one. You can maybe make the case that he's a low-level all star, but that's about his ceiling. Personally I think he's kind of borderline, more of a "really good player" than a guy who can be one of the 2-3 best players on a championship team.
LOL...you're kidding me right? So Charles Barkley wasn't a superstar because he wasn't one of the 2 or 3 best players on a championship team? Signed, Karl Malone, Dwight Howard, James Harden, Kevin Love... and on and on and on Guys get real. Rondo is a superstar. He may not be as good as Lebron. But that doesn't mean he isn't a superstar. He's a superstar.
Almost nobody thinks Rondo is a superstar dude. You just have some kind of weird love affair going on with him. He's probably not even in the top 5 point guards in the league, let alone the top 10 or so players overall. Most would probably rank him somewhere in the top 20-40 players range. That's not a superstar.
I can't help but to think that we don't go after Waiters, especially since Garcia has been slumping. It's probably already been discussed in this thread, but I have not seen it. Asik/DMO/Smith for Waiters/Varejao http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lk7mtb6
Waiters is garbage. If you want a volume shooter who makes less than 40% of his shots, then you go for Waiters.
I never said anything about Rondo not being a "star" .... What I said was he was the 4th best player on that team. That's a fact. I think Rondo is a really good player but I don't believe his skillset fits this team. He'd be really good on a team that ran a lot of half court sets / plays where he could dictate the offense. This team just doesn't do that and his shooting would be a liability .... And when you have Dwight Howard shooting ~51% at the FT stripe , can you afford another main cog who shoots ~62% ?? Then you have to factor in his health which at this point is a complete unknown.
Milsap has shown he is overrated and not a good match for the Rockets. He got seriously schooled by T-Jones tonight.
WTF .... is no one else entitled to an opinion if they don't agree with you ?! Just stop .... Seems to me there is substantial debate about Rondo's talent level (Star / Superstar) and about his fit with this team as shown by the constant back and forth between many members.
IMO, PG is the weakest spot on the roster with the emergence of Jones who can stretch. I know Rondo's name has been mentioned, what about Deron Williams? The Nets have started terribly and if they don't turn it around does Asik+Lin get DWill? I think the money is close but not sure. Seems good trade for both teams assuming it works.
How much of an upgrade would Millsap be if Terrence Jones continues to play well? Certainly not enough to justify his contract or giving up Asik.
I think most have come to the conclusion that T.Jones is plenty good enough to hold down the PF spot at least until his contract expires. Now , I'd be looking to move Asik for (Maybe even package him with Lin and other assets) .... a less turnover prone point (or combo) guard who can defend and shoot the three & a backup center .... Or Lebron if Pat Riley catches a case of Alzheimer's.
Lin and Asik for Bargnani and Shumpert The Knicks get back one of their most popular players ever, the Rockets get a big who can back up and play next to Dwight. Bargnani is also and underrated rim protector. What say you?
