I see people call him McFail all the time, there's even a thread about firing him that's been going on since last season. Not sure what your talking about...
Seems to me, there is some sort of confusion because of the thread title. McHale is not untouchable in Clutch(fans). But, he is untouchable in the Rockets organization.
Lin is not our primary point guard, Beverly is. Lin plays sg when Brooks and Beverley are on the floor. That is what confused me. In addition this is a thread about McHale not PGs and the poster I was responding to brought up PGS. Mchale should play Brooks more as he held the record for most threes in season a few years back according to one announcer. You see what he can do by his performance two nights ago. I think the OP is correct by stating he is asking Harden to play too many minutes. He will burn out. OP also mentiond the extended minutes of Parsens and Mchale's poor coaching in the area of defence, and his lack of creativity on the offensive end. I agree with all these points. (BTW the OP mentioned Lin 3 times, not eight). Much more to the original post than a Lin agenda, IMO.
He is in no way untouchable - but he has earned respect of a lot of people on here. Last season he had basically a whole new team, 2 days before the regular season started we added Harden, so we had no time to practise a new system - yet we played great offensive basketball. Not Harden iso, but a read and react offense. I really don`t know why people think we only ran Harden isos, we did that perhaps 5-10 times a gane, which is more than normal when you have one clear cut star on the team. Other than that we ran a beautiful read and react offense with lots of cutting and tons of assists. So without much time he installed a great looking and very effective offense that allowed basically every major player new career highs. And he managed to get a great chemistry in this team going. Every player not named White seem to really like each other - ad the coach plays a big part in that. All of this played a big reason in Howard coming here. So he earned respect. And people don`t like him being called McFail just because of regular stuff like not playing a player enough minutes. That doesn`t make him a failure. There is a lot of critisicm that is fair - like his inabilty to draw a good play after a timeout or end of quarter, he haven`t figured out how to play good defense with this squad or how to get a defensive rebound when Dwight goes for a block. You can also blame our problems with getting Dwight involved in the offense on him some. So, sure, fair criticism is welcome and nobody will call you a LOF for that - calling him McFail for one bad play or a substitution you don`t agree with is another thing, since he earned the respect of most Rockets fans.
Can I just say... that calling him "McFail", regardless of if he sucks or not, is such an incredibly lame and cheesy put-down, and instantly causes me to picture you as a five year old behind a keyboard.
Maybe people read posts like this and don't like being called racist if they don't love Jeremy Lin, and want to say F you to the poster. F you, OP.
How come Morey never sign any black players? McHale became untouchable once Morey quit signing black players.
Again you say our point guard. Who are you talking about. We have one starting point guard, one back up point guard, and a combo SG/PG. I totally agree with you. Lets apply the smae standards for all. You should control your dysregulated emotions concerning "our point guard "as it was you who brought up the point guard issue when the same standards sould be set for everyone not just "our point guard" Why do you have an unbrideled zeal about applying equal standards just to "our point guard" and not other players. Don't you like Beverley and Brooks.? Are you concerned about Harden's over use. Try to handle your myopic post in a mature manner.
Are you joking, bing sarcastic or what? It is hard to tell by your post. BTW LiLLy White is quite a racist remark. I hope you are being sarcastic or trying to be funny.
They say McHale is still 'learning' the ropes but he has been doing so for awhile now. The reason why his record is at .500 is because the talent of the Rockets has carried him there. His coaching ability? Don't think he has won that many games with it. Lost us all the close clutch games so far, or his questionable rotations and decisions. He seems to have this lost in thought facial expression all the time..."hmm - wonder if I should let Harden play more even though he's hurt...well we might win if he ISOs more...Parsons looks a bit tired...but he's still young I will leave him I think...**** I think I forgot to turn off the stove at home!" Also his motivation speeches during Mic'ed up or Wired segments - lol seems pretty flat without any intensity. But that's just from my perspective, since it's just a small view we get to see.
This is a joke, right! He signed two African-Americans who are making top salary. I hope you are trolling. If not it worries me.
I think it's because if you say anything bad about the coach you have something in common with the LOF and people on clutch do not want to be associated with LOFs.
And you give yourself away here. Apparently every single reason people support McHale, in your mind, is centered around a hatred for Jeremy Lin. It doesn't have anything to do with the fact he DOES have a winning record in Houston (but nice job only looking at his total record as a coach to skew that stat in your favor) and that we are 10-5 at the moment. It has nothing to do with Dwight Howard naming him as a key reason for choosing Houston. It has nothing to do with the chemistry of the players on the team and the role McHale has in that. And it has nothing to do with the sympathy he gained after he lost his daughter last season and returned to coach us to the playoffs. I believe you also mention people like him keeping Jeremy on a short leash. I don't think a lot of us even feel that he does that. I also don't get the impression that there are even that many posters here who dislike Jeremy. He is a smart, hard-working kid that clearly wants to be the best player he can be. That is hard not to like. But many poster definitely dislike being characterized as racists when we're critical of his play or supportive of the coach or James Harden. And many posters are definitely sick of the LOF crowd. And finally, the main reason I know you're an unabashed LOF isn't that you're being critical of McHale, it's that you're so biased towards Lin and so critical of McHale that you think everybody is against you and that McHale is untouchable. I don't have strong feelings for Coach McHale. I think he's had decent success to date with the Rockets but I'm still unsure if he is the long term solution. And YET I constantly find myself looking at this board and wondering why McHale is so hated here. Last season's squad was projected to win about 30 games before the season. They finished above .500 and went to the playoffs. They are currently 10-5. But every single day I see somebody calling for his job. I feel like McHale gets criticized like we're at the bottom of the lottery (and I love Jeremy Lin and the way he is playing this year) and you feel like he is untouchable. Clearly one of us is wrong, and I'm going to presume that it's the person who thinks McHale is largely supported by racists.
My only ban on this board, so far, came for making a MEME about McHale. So I guess admins made McHale immune
Is that why so many clutch fans and contributing members such as Herra and your self as die hard rocket fans hate Lin?? Cuz he's Asian?
More plausible answer, the OP is aliterate*. *a·lit·er·ate āˈlitərit adjective 1. unwilling to read, although able to do so. noun 1. an aliterate person.
1) point out Mchale's coaching problem 2) praise Jeremy 3) point out Harden's defense problem Any of the above, you're LOF.
