its not a high horse,the guys in sugarland want big homes and can't afford it in the city. a $2.5M home in sugar land would be $10 in West U or River Oaks. That's just a fact. A $300-400k home in sugarland is $1M if it has a 77019,77024,77006 zip code. How am I generalizing? Those ppl in the Mcmansions in Missouri City and Sugarland couldn't even afford the tax bill on a similar sized home inside the loop so they're frontin. I agree. This poster, Eddie Winslow, can't be serious. The problem with that kind of attitude: there always is someone higher up the pecuniary totem pole that will ridicule those with fewer material wealth childish reasons. I see a privileged child deriding Fort Bend residents based off simple generalizations and inner contempt. A wealthy person from New York, Moscow, Tokyo, Hong Kong, or London likely will chuckle at this unintended comedy. Back to the post - one of the many things I love about the Greater Houston area is the ethnic diversity and strength/size of the middle class. You also see less income and wealth disparity than say Chicago or Washington. I have many friends that live in Sugar Land. They love their neighborhood's safety, cleanliness, and affordability; finally, the public schools there are very good.
The article gave a shout out to 99 ranch market :grin: I actually went there a few times with the madre. Seems like a real nice nice Asian grocery store. 300/sf is nothing. Your parents are not at all impressive. My current house is about 860/sf. Your cheap Houston prices have given you a false sense of wealth. Sugarland is the burbs but at least it does have this diversity. Ignoring location if I had to pick the burbs in Houston I would probably live there.
You sound like an idiot. I know plenty of rich (subjective) people who could easily afford to live in the city but choose to live in the burbs. If it's strictly for cost savings, more power to them, but usually other pros factor in. Btw, you do realize that NBA players, etc live in places like Sugarland? Oh..they frontin. LOL.

But since I agree w your post, I wanted to let you know that your last sentence has a couple of odd choices of words. Pecuniary in that context is somewhat odd (perhaps not entirely wrong) and maybe good old "financial" works better. "Fewer" would suggest that "material wealth" are units and is wrong in that context too. I'd go with "less".

Sugar Land is not diverse. These statistics are taking in the areas surrounding it which have blacks and mexicans. But sugar land itself is asian and white. You'd be hard pressed to find anything else there. Also, as I mentioned in my other thread in the D&D, the reason people moved to the suburbs is something much bigger than personal preference. It was basically what the federal government forced from 1934-1964, by giving loans to only white people and by not allowing loans in certain areas (inner city), which basically caused white flight. It was never happenstance.
