XBO is better at multimedia, though I think both kind of suck (I kind of prefer PS3 over both, or just some other device). They'll both get much better over time though (PS3 and 360 kind of sucked at launch too). I don't really get into the Forza/GT thing. I've always gotten the impression that GT is much better, but they take WAY too long to come out with games. I think it might be somewhat close (and a matter of preference), but with Forza, you generally get 2-3 entries before the next GT entry. Perhaps Polyphony will change that with their efforts on PS4 (they indicate that they will, but I don't trust them). Forza 5 and GT6 probably isn't a good comparison since one is a launch title while the other is a follow-up entry using an established tech pipeline (so you get things like ~200 cars vs ~1200 cars). Visually speaking, I've always preferred GT. They always seem to nail the lighting, and it looks a bit better than Forza. Forza has gotten substantially better in that department though. Yes, can use XBO with DirecTV. I think the Giant Bomb video I posted a couple of days ago was using DirecTV. Don't think the system itself will upscale to 4K, but I suppose your TV would (assuming it supported it). Depends on what the source might be too (video or games?).
I played GT once at a friends house.... I drove my own car in the game and I was amazed by the accuracy of the interior. The graphics were also very impressive and I will admit It almost drove me to get a PS3.... Then I realised I could use that money for my real car ..... Oh an about the thinking they both suck, I think you ment you think one of them sucks... But not the the One, the other one.... The one thats not the One ...
No, I definitely think they both suck. Don't care about the cable integration stuff (I won't be going back to cable for a while, and even then, I think it is a bit shaky as currently implemented). I want better browsing, better media support (or media support period), quick/better Blu-ray support, DVR support, better services (Google Play, Spotify, etc.), etc. Hell, MP3 playback even. They'll get there eventually, but I think for the things I care about with multimedia, neither box is particularly good.
Wait a minute.. You have a PS4 right? Now let me go ahead and share my opinion on something I keep hearing from people regarding the Xbox One's cable feature... Now I have been hearing this alot. "Why would Xbox One do the cable thing if we all know that cable is dying.... People are streaming more content and Hulu/Netflix is alot more convinient".. I'm going to be honest here, I really dont think Xbox One is pushing cable tv.... I think they are pushing Sports Tv because they know that is something that is not dying out.... Cable/Direct Tv is still the best way to watch a game live. Streaming can create many problems for the old school sit down in front of tv in your living room in your fav couch with pizza and friends. Streaming requires fast internet, a good router and a decent computer if you are going to use something like chromecast. The Xbox One's cable feature is mainly going to be used for Sports and checking scores while Xbox Live is going to allow you to log in to your Hulu or Netflix for movies and shows..... Its an HDMI input.... Cable/Live Sport Events will not die down within the next 4 - 6 years.... The Xbox One's cable option is a wonderful thing to have if you are a Sports fan... This means your experience with the Xbox One does not end the moment you decided this was your last checkpoint... You continue to use it for pretty much everything else.... Thats where I believe Xbox One is going to outdo its competitors... Its going to be utilised more and therefor everything else is just going to be a hassle once you get used to the convinient Xbox One.... The experience is going to continue getting better.... They are trying to take over the living room, and I believe its only going to be a few patches fine tuning away from actually doing it...
You can stream NBA and MLB games on PS3 (and I think PS4 supports that too). A Roku box does most of that too, among other devices I believe (not sure how well, though I assume it will get better over time). I have to imagine native Chromecast support will be there in the not-too-distant future. Sports is what keeps many subscribed to cable, and the only thing that tempts me. But cable pricing is so ridiculous (partly because of sports channels) that I can't justify keeping cable. I'm fine using these streaming options for the sports I actually care about. Or even just waiting a day and downloading the game. Any features that improve the cable TV experience are just pointless to me.
I actually just skimmed over this part originally since I didn't really follow this news. I knew people were complaining, but I thought it was possibly overreacting (well...I'm not a fan of microtransactions anyway, but I thought this was mostly the same as previous efforts). I assumed Turn10 made something similar to their previous games, but just added some of these microtransactions to help out people who didn't want to put in 40+ hours (or whatever) to unlock everything. Maybe pay $20, and you can unlock all the cars instead of putting in all those hours. It sounds a lot worse though: http://www.teamvvv.com/en/news/comments/Forza-5s-monetisation-is-a-monumental-rip-off http://www.play.tm/news/39139032/re...tract-the-ire-of-the-driving-games-community/ http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=721448 One of the articles mentioned that the average gamer would need to put in 60-100 hours to get enough credits to unlock just one car. I'm assuming that's the most expensive car, but that seems excessive. How many people will even put in much more than 20-30 hours for the game? And when you put in that many hours, would you really NOT consider paying some money to unlock some cars you've been enable to earn through the game? I've seen estimates of 450-500 hours to unlock all the cars (and I think that's if you're good?). Some cars cost ~$60 to unlock if you buy them, and something like thousands of dollars to unlock everything. No way to try out these vehicles in an "arcade" mode, no winning cars in races (only credits), charging more per token in the higher token bundles, etc. Doesn't sound very good. If it was a F2P game, I might understand, but to do all that while still requiring $60 up front does seem pretty bad. I'm kind of bothered that this didn't get hit harder by reviewers (though I've noticed reviewers rarely care about this kind of thing). I haven't followed GT too closely, but I thought I saw they do something similar. Maybe the scale is different (which would help a lot), but if not, this sucks. I will definitely recommend that people avoid these games. edit: Yep, GT6 does this as well (or some of it anyway...definitely can pay for credits to unlock cars). Not clear what credits cost, so maybe it isn't as bad, but we won't know that until it's out I guess. That sucks.
There were reports that you couldnt "test drive" cars in arcade mode, but that's now shown to not be true...it's just that navigating the menu to do that is a little complicated. There is a youtube video on how to play with any car in the game. As far as the career is concerned, yes, it can take a long time to earn the credits...but, there is help. For instance, your drivatar earns money 24 hours a day. Might not be a ton of money, but you are constantly making something outside of your races if your drivatar can get gold, silver, or bronze in races. Granted, if someone sucks at racing, then their drivatar wont earn much credit. Also, if you have a nice tune set up for a car...or you make nice custom paint job with some art work, you put those on the "market" and make money off of them too. Different ways to make money outside of just racing. Besides, the most expensive cars in the game arent even the ones that most people would want to drive...at least, you can get your "fix" playing in the arcade mode with those cars.
Are you talking about this? <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/KY2qjnZ29Pw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> That's clearly a glitch, and not intentional. Given the backlash, maybe they won't patch that out (maybe they'll even do this "right"), but the game is definitely designed so that you "earn" these cars before allowing you to use them in this mode. The reports are correct, but it just turns out that Turn10 rushed the game out so quickly that their monetization implementation wasn't even bug free. Sounds like you make a lot less money with these other routes than you did in previous games (I wonder why?). I don't get the impression that this "help" will really make a big difference. The NeoGAF thread I link to talks about all that. This is kind of like saying Turn10 is really screwing over gamers, but hey, it could be worse! Why wouldn't most people want to drive them, and which cars do most people want to drive?
Im at work now, so cant watch video, but it was a different video...maybe same method, not sure. Yeah, you dont necessarily make great money with drivatar's (maybe like 5k-7k a day). As far as cars...the F1 cars arent necessarily the ones most people want to drive bc you cant customize, upgrade, tune, etc... like you do with other "real" cars. They're fun to drive for a bit, but it definitely doesnt beat all the exotic cars that you can make your own...or a 1971 BMW that I can trick out to compete against Ferraris and Lambos. Again, it's not a perfect system...but in the grand scheme of things (And Ive been playing racing games my whole life, starting with all the Gran Turismos and all the Forzas), I think the issue is getting blown way out of proportion. Of course, Ive only scratched the surface as far as the Career mode is concerned, but I have easily raked in about 500-600k so far...which makes me think it's not that hard to get the cars I want to actually drive and make my own. Microtransactions are an unfortunate part of gaming now...but, although it's not ideal, I dont feel like Im missing out on anything (at least not yet...I can give a better assessment in a couple months). But, as of now, it's the best racing experience I've ever had...and the fun with the racing outweighs any microtransaction that may be needed in the future.
It was something like you go to "rent" a car (doesn't matter which), then you go to buy a car (the car you want to use), basically get to the point where you're about to buy it, but then you cancel out of all that. You end up with the car even though you didn't pay the credits/tokens for it. I noticed several other non-F1 cars going for 5M-6M, plus many more for 1M+. That seems excessive, and I have my doubts that all of those cars aren't really desired by most people. Not only is it not a perfect system, it is an unnecessary (and unasked for) system. I don't particularly care to reward any dev for this. There are plenty of other devs who are making great games without this kind of system in place (and if they do have the microtransaction model, it is implemented far better). It is only apart of gaming if we allow it to be.
Yup, which is why I would stop playing the game before making a microtransaction to further myself within the game.
Hey rez, so I take it you never played this? I got into it roughly two years ago... Then I realised wht a scam it was...
Well.... NFSW is a free to play game.... When I started playing the game I had no idea what that was.... It had tons of features and addicting gameplay. A very large community with tons of players and it was just simply a really good experience. You would start off as usual with lower class car and race to earn money and parts... It was an open world racing game where everyone else was your rival. There was customization and best of all street cars... Cars you would see people trying to tune not just these million dollar f1 cars.... It was nice having your very own created ride with stats and everything.... I then started to notice the microtransactions or the pay to win... It was intriguing.. Those who could afford it had nicer rides with better parts... There was no competition between paying players and non paying players... Now, its a free to play game that's normal.... If you pay you should get better stuff an benefits but the problem here was the pricing of the virtual money... Some of the cars can cost up to $50.... And people were gobbling it up. It was a broken game infested with hackers, bugs, and the most unbalanced cars ever... Maybe I used the word scam wrong but this was pretty much stealing peoples money using a system close to gambling... See, in this game to obtain parts you could either win races and win from a card pile containing prices or you could buy card packs without knowing what they had.... You would pay hmm $5 $10 $20 worth of card packs and get nothing good in return.... You could never choose the parts you wanted... If the virtual money wouldn't have been soo expensive I wouldn't complain but the prices are absurd for virtual stuff... Here is the game.. I'm leaving a lot out... ALOT!

Honestly the TV integration with Xbox is pretty badass. Voice control can be shaky but you can always use the Xbox controller. Just watching a basketball game and at the same time getting an invite to a multiplayer game and being able to do both at the same time is pretty sweet.
I agree...This doesnt get the hype it deserves...I think it's hard to really understand how amazing it is until you've actually experienced it. Awesome feature. As far as voice control, the only issue I have is when I want to turn on the xbox...for some reason, I have to say it louder than normal, so I find myself repeating it loudly.
Welcome to everything that is Windows Phone. Its hard to hype some things, and to be fair Microsoft has no idea what marketing is. I freaking love the TV stuff and the ability to Skype. I can answer a call at any point, its awesome.
