no GM in their right mind would stay on the phone after the word, "unprotected". But it's actually tough to pull off acquiring a draft pick in this year's draft. The Suns have less than a 50% shot of getting that 13th pick this year. I wonder what protection was offered in a proposed Asik deal? You'd have to think it was better than top 12. Top 10?

Deal was rumored to be for Okafor and a unprotected first. The Rockets were basically swapping bigs and getting rewarded with a really good draft pick. There wasn't a need for additional salary so I doubt Ariza was mentioned.

Its a negotiation that they said "Didn't get too far". Just because Morey said that's what they wanted didn't mean thats what they were really expecting. They probably laughed, hung up the phone, and called up Phoenix which ended up costing Washington when they got Gortat when they could have had Asik.

I'd assume the Pick was essential, but I doubt Morey really expected it to be fully unprotected... that's pretty ridiculous. However, if they came back with pick protection, I think Morey plays along, and ultimately 1st rounder top 5 to 8 should have worked. Sounds like the Washington Bullets got offended and hung up the phone too quick.

Omer was good last night but I am dubious this changes the plan. I believe he is a goner.

I like Ilyasova, but chances are a 3rd team would have to be involved because the Bucks don't need Asik.

I'm still leaning towards Lopez+. There really isn't a trade out there that is more appealing than keeping Asik. But, if it must be so, Lopez would be a great return.
The recent Derrick Rose injury has made me somewhat leery of getting Rondo.

Me, I reeeeeeally don't want to hook up a WC team, especially with the way Portland's playing.

Atlanta may still be our play, but it would probably involve more than just a straight swap for players.

Of course, Morey will pull something out of left field anyway.

Isn't that sort of always the case.... and at the most random times. You know making the OKC/Harden trade right smack dab in the middle of an OU football game that they were losing was his way of trolling the entire state of Oklahoma. We beat ourselves up trying to pick apart every trade in the books that could ever happen and bam.... out of left field... Morey traded for Whooo???.... Him REALLY... and then realize that it was a genius deal.

So lets play a game here.... most random person in the world (not even just NBA... but they do have to be drafted) Morey can acquire this year.

I'll Start.... Evan Fournier, and internationally picks up Felipe Reyes from Europe

If Atlanta would give us Millsap and something else...like the rights to that Brazilian kid. Something that would allow us to turn the deal into Asik/DMo/contract for Millsap/Hawes.

That would give us a big man rotation of:

    Howard/Hawes
    Millsap/Jones

I think that would be good.

Well, let's look at it this way. If there were an Asik/Lopez trade straight up, which team would have the better back-up?

    I have vision

But bro there is 0 chance we acquire just Lopez. In fact I'll put 20 dollars in tip jar if that is all morey gets.

Asik has at least double the value. Maybe Lopez and their first rounder in 2014 .... Morey hopes they flounder?

I say go after deng and if nothing else could be the piece used to get love In The future

But morey can get a back up center with room mle or second rounder ... You don't deal our best available asset for a back up center

I can see us acquiring Lopez if Portland includes a pick that we can flip to Milwaukee for Ilyasova. Asik for Lopez and Ilyasova.

I agree Rondo would be huge for this team. I just don't know what would make Boston trade him. Maybe Bev, Asik, and picks if they want to cut salary but I don't really see them doing that.

I think Morey will keep Asik so much as he can. (So DH can rest more minutes with an elite reserve)
so I think after the 15th december and before Christmas Asik will be move

I think that a back up C must come to Houston (unless Camby is healty) and I dont believe Morey will trade Asik for a decent PF (Millsap, Illyasova)

    so possible trades:

    - With POR Lopez and of course something else
    - DENVER Mosgow + Chandler
    - Charlotte Biyombo + Detroit pick
    - Boston Faverani or Olynyk + lee + Brooklin pick
    - Atlanta Ayon + Schroeder + pick

Could actually be a candidate to get bought out here pretty soon. Good one.
