Not happening until the Monday after the last game. McNair doesn't operate ruthless like that. He held on to Frank Bush for the entire 2010 season, when he lead one of the worst defenses ever.
I don't think our qb turning into a zombie and our defense playing like garbage is on coach, because other than this past game, we were in position to win in many of those games. It truly is a game of inches. At the same time, there comes a point when a change would be good for everyone.
those may not be on the coach, but the lack of any adjustments whatsoever for like the last 16 games or so is. The Texans, in their last 15 games, are 3-12. A team with JJ Watt, Antonio Smith, Jonathan Joseph, Duane Brown, Arian Foster, Owen Daniels, and Andre freaking Johnson is 3-12. buh-bye, coach.

Not for mgmt, not for coaches or ownership...Thank you McNair for raising ticket prices and providing such a turd of a product. Things wont ever change unless Mcnair is hurt where he should...his wallet. Season after season, the city of Houston has mopped up tickets. Maybe because we fear that these Texans would leave our city. But for the past 12 years, our team has always shown us one thing...they excel at being pathetic...whether it is poor QB play, terrible coaching, poor on field talent, overhyped expectations, injuries....our Texans have consistently been a disappointment. Owners that really care about their image and products wouldve let Kubiak go...High expectations and the inability to deliver. But yesterday marks yet another low point for our franchise. We lost against the only team that we have really had success against. The Jags...To score 6 points at home is unacceptable to the worst and least talented team. We shouldve known that our team was a joke after the two barely there wins against the Chargers and Titans...After 9 consecutive losses(the longest in the history of the franchise), the rotting carcass has stunk up the joint and left a terrible stench in our city. We deserve better, and we should demand better.
1) Please list the head coaches that have been fired midseason in the last ten years. TIA. 2) If McNair fired coaches as quickly as folks on this board clamor for it, they'd be criticizing him as trigger-happy and (correctly) saying that no decent coach would want to come here.

It has nothing to do with being ruthless. It has everything to do with showing the entire organization that this performance is unacceptable and that no one is safe. He should've been fired last week. Since it hasn't happened yet, he gets 2 more games. Assuming they lose this week to NE and if they lose @ Jax a week from this Thursday, it should happen that Friday. It gives Wade (assuming he's the man in waiting to be interim) a longer game week to get things settled down and a game plan in place. I don't think it will take much though because there probably isn't a player on this roster that isn't surprised it didn't already happen.

He was 68-71, but only made the playoffs twice, winnng 1 game. He will be replaced on an interim basis by defensive coordinator Mel Tucker who will also get a chance to interview for the full-time job in the offseason. UPDATE 1/11/12: Mike Mularkey has been hired as the Jaguars new coach. He was offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. 2010-11: December 26th, 2010 - Mike Singletary - San Francisco 49ers - I think the writing was on the wall with this. Singletary I think was a little too emotional and tough to be a head coach. He even got into a shouting match with his quarterback on Sunday. Defensive line coach Jim Tomsula will take over to coach the last game of the season. December 5th, 2010 - Josh McDaniels - Denver Broncos - Everything started out great for McDaniels last year as the Broncos raced out to a 6-0 record, but then hit the worst skid in decades in Denver. He went on to lose 17 of his next 22 games. Eric Studesville will serve as intermin coach. Rumor has it, the Broncos are eyeing Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak. November 22nd, 2010 - Brad Childress - Minnesota Vikings - This one took a little longer than it should have. Childress was not liked by the Minnesota fans or his players especially QB Brett Favre. Leslie Frazier takes over on an interim basis. **Leslie Frazier was named head coach on January 2nd, 2011** November 8th, 2010 - Wade Phillips - Dallas Cowboys - Phillips failed to convert all the talent he had into anything but a mediocore team, which is not what Jerry Jones had in mind. Jason Garrett takes over on an interim basis and depending on how he finishes, maybe permanant.
^^^^^^in regards to your 2nd point... look at the teams listed that fired bad coaches... Denver, San Fran, Kansas City have succeeded...but this is the NFL...if you can do the job, you will have one(really that rings true in any work setting)...And how are you trigger happy after giving someone almost 8 years???

People were calling for Kubiak's head during the previous two years, and during the year before that. People were calling for Kubiak's head during his second, third, and fourth years. It appears coaches *do* get whacked during the season, as you pointed out so well. But, the fact that our owner doesn't do so, at least to me, doesn't say that he doesn't hold them accountable. That, for me, rings hollow. The Texans finished 12-4 last year. Was he supposed to fire Kubiak after that?
Perhaps but if Bob was to do as you ask and fire Kubiak now, he'd have to replace him with a guy (Wade) who WAS fired in midseason. I happen to find that incredibly ironic.
1. you're welcome 2. Being a fan is what it is...fanatics; its what we are supposed to do whenever things dont happen. Most reasonable fans were very tolerant for a long time. After several 8-8 seasons, and even one 9-7 season, the Texans felt there was hope. But after a season of success, the team regressed to a 6-10 season(resulted in a gift draft pick of JJ Watt). The team then tasted their first playoffs ever with their back up QB and even a victory, only to be beat by the Ravens in a low scoring affair. The next season started off wonderfully, and then reality set in when we faced our first legit competition for the year(the Packers). We had a nice rebound low scoring win at Soldier field, and the Texans were on a season high. Since that point, the Texans managed to lose and get embarrassed by the Patriots twice. Lost twice to clinch home field advantage to the Colts and the Vikings! Then this season happened. How do you go from being a 12-4 team to a 2-9 team? Coaches didnt make right in game decisions; the drafting classes were pathetic; free agent signings and losses, injuries etc...I have really only heard the chatter of Kubiak getting fired ring louder during these last 15 or so games...Fans have the right to boo and call for the head of a coach that promised his team and city a chance to get back to the playoffs and to win a title, only to stare at a chance to get the #1 pick. 3. Finally, the firing of Kubiak is nothing more than a symbolic gesture. It is to show that someone has to take the fall for the bad performance. And sadly, it has to be a really good person like Kubiak. He is loved by his coaches, staff, and players. Even the city was trying to galvanize around him as he got sick. But this is nothing about him being sick or ill or anything else. This should be about sending a message to players on this team, that their time is coming. If you dont perform you dont play. If you cant coach, you wont have a job. It is also a message to players that give it their all, to know that something is being done to correct the situation. That people care about their effort and hard work; that people are being held accountable for poor performances/losses. If Schaub wasnt hurt, I can guarantee that Keenum wouldve never even sniffed the field this year. Doesnt that tell you something in itself? Losing at home against the hands down favorites to be the worst team in the nfl this year at the start of the season is just bad. As Andre Johnson stated to clearly..."we stink and they have a right to boo." Mcnair's inaction for me speak volumes about him as a person, and makes me believe that he is often taken advantage of.
