The third team would be Orlando. There are reports saying Chicago is eyeing on Orlando's Jameer Nelson to fill the PG spot hopefully for a playoff run. But Orlando doesn't need Asik either.

Maybe Lin + DMO get it done?

Maybe I have on my homer shades, but Lin + Dmo seems like a lot for just Deng. No? I could be being biased....

You are being biased. And I'm not sure Lin+DMo would get it done, Bulls might laugh. We'll need to throw in another sweetener.

Why Bulls won't do it? Bulls have no leverage. Deng is going to be an unrestricted Free Agent. Rather get something for now rather than nothing.

Problem with trading Asik and Lin would be who would fill in for our backup center role. Maybe a third team may need to be involved to give us a decent backup center.

Dmo doesn't have enough of a base to handle the bigger centers in the league.

Because they could probably find better trade options elsewhere. And if they decide to blow it all up, why not settle for picks? Due to Rose's injury, I think the Bulls actually have more flexibility and less pressure to trade Deng now, at least one would think. Rose isn't coming back this season, making the playoffs doesn't matter anymore.

Aren't Bulls tanking? Call me a homer but getting Lin and Asik would keep them in the playoffs.

I want Iman Shumpert but not to give up too much for him.

If a reasonable deal can be made he is the Defensive specialist that can shut down a hot 1 or 2 when we need a stop.

Shump reminds me of a young Battier but much more athletic and more potential

    trade lin?

i am the furthest thing from a LOF, but i give respect where warranted & jeremy lin has been spectacular this season. in fact, he's one of the few rockets who consistently plays with heart (maybe a chip on his shoulder?). not to mention he is interchangeable at the pg & sg spots.

i believe the last thing we need to do is break up our beverley/lin combo. they both feed off each other, and i really want to see how far they take it.

    trade asik. keep lin.

why do we need a "defensive stopper"...?

what happened to playing good ole fashioned high effort team defense?

    1. You're trading for a guy who will be unrestricted at the end of the season. If he walks, the Rockets just wasted two assets.

    2. I doubt, highly doubt, that the Bulls would want two guys who both have swelled contracts next season.

    3. From a talent standpoint, I think Asik and Lin are worth a lot more than Deng.

Even without Rose they are a playoff team in the East and can easily win 1 round and be competitive in the 2nd round.

They showed it last year. Thibs is an amazing coach and they got a lot of talent there even without Rose. There problem is there guys are all injury prone. Last year they made the playoffs, won in the 1st round, was up 1-0 against the Heat in the 2nd then all the injuries finally got to them and the champs were too good but if they had faced the Knicks in the 2nd round that Bulls team could easily have made the ECF without Rose and a roster full of injury prone players.

Also here is another option to get Deng. Trade Asik and Lin for Deng and their first round pick if they dont want to part with Jimmy Butler. Maybe get Spencer Hawes from the sixers in a third team deal.

This team does need a defensive wing to compensate for Harden coasting on D.

I have updated my trade possibilities to get Deng to Houston. But we still would need a viable backup for Howard and that man would be Spencer Hawes. Hawes can be inserted late in games to prevent the hack a dwight because of his free throw shooting. He can also get minutes at that stretch 4 position everyone likes to talk about because he can hit the three point shot and the mid range as well.

    Check updated trade scenarios.

Option 1: Jeremy Lin + Omer Asik for Luol Deng
    or
Option 2: Jeremy Lin + Omer Asik for Luol Deng + Jimmy Butler
    or (a late addition)
Option 3: Jeremy Lin + Omer Asik for Luol Deng + Chi 1st round draft pick
    or
Option 4: Jeremy Lin + Omer Asik for Luol Deng + Chi 1st round draft pick. 3rd team deal trade Dmo and Chicago's 1st round pick that Houston got in the Deng deal to Philly for Spencer Hawes to fill in the 5 spot behind Howard. (He can also shoot the three and hit free throws late in case hack a dwight is used)

Espn Trade Machine approves all of these including the 3rd team deal involving philly as well option 4. (see screenshot below)

You don't need to include Lin in these trade ideas for Deng. I love the idea of acquiring him but it would be MUCH better to do it with Asik + sweeteners/salary filler.

Lin is our 6th man and one of the best players on the team. Getting rid of him just creates a different hole.
