Over an overrated OU team. And he's 0-3 against ranked teams this year.

Not trying to talk smack against the guy, I actually like him. I just don't get the NFL hype. I think he should stay at A&M and finish what he started.

If we're going to go after a college coach, I think we should go after someone a little more balanced. And with at least some NFL experience. Like David Shaw at Stanford.

No team with an elite LT would ever in their right mind use the #1 overall pick to take a RT. Guards and centers don't go #1 overall, only in the NBA.

People worry about Manziel's arm strength, height, relying on Mike Evans too much, his ability to become a leader, work ethic, etc...

I don't worry about any of that (well, except the height). He has the tools to start in the NFL. Make big plays.

What I do worry about is the fact he's never played a game without an elite offensive line in front of him. He holds onto the ball FOREVER, then buys EVEN MORE time by running around like a squirrel. His mental clock is out of whack. He's shown no ability to get the ball out quick.

I'm not saying he cant figure it out but that's what I'd be concerned with. I agree, he actually needs another year in college. He's not prepared to find receivers in a 2-3 second window.

There are only 1-3 teams in the NFL that can accommodate putting him back there and letting him learn on the job by rushing the ball 65% of the time and using designed plays to get Manziel outside the pocket. And that's how you wind up missing games.

I am a huge A&M fan and I do not want either! Look at history and you will find that shifty QBs and offensive-spread coaches do not succeed in the NFL. It is almost a completely different game than NCAA. I have said since day 1 if Johnny would become a slot receiver he could be great but we all know that QBs do not believe in changing positions. I think Sumlin is guaranteed to be going to USC which is pretty crazy considering that he was at UH just a couple of years ago. Give me an offensively aggressive coach with NFL experience, an O-lineman, and a pass rusher.

Sumlin and Manziel are not upgrades to Kubiak and Keenum.

    Pass.

    Dungy, Cowher, Gruden or bust

The QB class is deep, and there is a great chance a good QB will be available once the Texans draft in the 2nd round. Right now this team is desperate for talent. I was initially on the Matthews bandwagon, but right now Clowney might be a better choice...shore up one thing. Having JJ and Clowney will just be a Oline nightmare...

Never even expected this season to turn out the way it has, but the Texans may just have the #1 pick. If the Texans front office is smart(LOL), they would try to maximize on picks and either trade down(getting an additional 2nd round pick) to nab Barr or Matthews. If they gamble by drafting a QB- Bridgewater (im really not super sold on him for a #1 pick) there would be immediate pressure on the #1 pick to be named as the starter for this team. I am more open to competition. This would allow a young QB like Keenum to work really hard this offseason to impress a new coaching regime, and have legit competition with a talented 2nd round QB.

If the Texans are not gonna trade down or cant find suitors, I say the Texans should really consider getting a game changing player like Clowney.

Case Keenum will be significantly better NFL quarterback than Manziel.

I don't mind Sumlin as a head coach he seems to be a great leader of men.

Manziel he is exciting to watch but not sure how long his career would last especially since he likes to keep that ball out when he runs. ESPN would be talking about us for 10 to 15 minutes a day especially on First Take. Skip Bayless loves Johnny Football.

But I believe we need to get the prototypical quarterback when it comes to height with mobility.

    So no to Manziel.

I just don't think Sumlin's track record is long enough at this time to be a viable candidate for the Texans or any other NFL team. Or for that matter, a top tier college football program such as USC. The guy is unproven. He needs a few more years of seasoning at A&M. By then we'll see how he recruits (i.e. how good is his eye for talent) on both defense and offense. Chances are by then he'll have 1-2 years under his belt where he doesn't have an insanely talented star QB...meaning he and his staff will have to put more effort into actually coaching...calling good plays against good SEC teams and so on.

As for Johnny - sure he needs to mature a bit, but I think he gets too much hate from people. Anyway, I don't think Houston should draft him because I question his durability and he tries to force things too often (main reason for most of his INTs) in an effort to make a spectacular play...instead of making the safe play.

Why so people keep saying trade the pick. When was the last time the #1 overall pick was traded?

Strange to me that there are so many rational voices on the Manziel subject, whereas VY, who was clearly an inferior pro prospect, received so much love.

It's because Manziel is the black Vince Young. You know how everybody is always hating on the black QBs.

May have to do with the program he came from as well as certain bowl game performances getting everyone overly excited.

Of course, guards and centers don't go 1. That said, I would trade down into the 6-10 range and take a right tackle.... With the rest of our haul we could tend to other needs.
