Texans offense has been elite in yards, but not in scoring. Prior to this year, the last 5 years, they averaged 11th in the NFL in scoring, never being better than 8th. Denver, New England, Green Bay, New Orleans - those are elite offenses. The Texans offense has been consistently good, but never great.
Right...but Texans have been consistently good, whereas any team not named NE, GB, or NO has been inconsistent over that period of time. On top of that, the 3 teams have been led by Brady, Rodgers, and Brees...while the Texans have been led by Schaub. If credit isnt going to Kubiak, then that's a shame. It's either Schaub is a very good QB or Kubiak is very good coach for being able to get that kind of production out of such an average QB. People like to say that Schaub sucks and Kubiak sucks...how can it be both? Logic says that someone needs to be doing something right...and personally, I dont see many coaches being able to get such offensive numbers with Schaub as their QB. Again, Kubiak isnt cut out to be a head coach, but he certainly doesnt suck at offense.
why does Kubiak have a job...losing to the Jags at houston scoring a grand total of 7 points...this reeks of a team that has given up on coaching
Most of the season I was just like "what's the point?" Last week I wanted him fired. This week I'm back to "what's the point?" I mean, really. What's going to change? Would we really play better with Wade as HC and Dennison running the offense? Didn't work in Arizona. Do we even want to play better? Wouldn't most of us actually prefer to keep losing and get the highest pick possible? It's not like we're going to run out and hire a replacement before the end of the season. Wanting him fired immediately is more about a desire for instant gratification than any realistic benefit. Trust me, Kubiak is a lame duck and that's all that really matters. Just so long as Bob doesn't hesitate once the season ends, I'm fine with letting Kubes coach the last 5 games. Capers was fired the Monday after the last game and that's what I expect to happen here too. Save this date: Monday, December 30, 2013.
He certainly does right now. If I'm going to give him credit for prior years, then this stinker lays at his feet too.
I just hope they dont go on a miracle 5 game win streak and they leave Kubiak as the coach... Fire him noww
They just lost to the Jaguars at home. If this team could snap their fingers and go on a winning streak like that, it would further exemplify how dysfunctional they are. Chances are they're not simply dysfunctional, or losing mental mind games.... they're BAD.
I don't think using scoring as a good metric of how good an offense is. Its like you just can't use scoring to measure offensive efficiency in the NBA. If you jack up a 100 shots you are probably going to score a lot even though you are giving the other team a lot of opportunities. Last year since they had a good defense and running game and they could just grind out games by getting long clock killing drives. They have consistently been a top 10 scoring offense over the last 5 or so years.
I think it's the ultimate metric for how good an offense is. Teams win the battle for yardage and time of possession while still losing the game. Points win games. Points for your team...points you deny the other team of.
Especially since this team gets so few points from its defense as well as special teams. You would need to look at teams breakdown of scoring from offense alone... vs. offense+defense+special teams which is what the current points/game stat reflects.
I did something yesterday I haven't done in probably 5 years now - I turned off the game at halftime (and started hanging Christmas lights). Up until yesterday, the games have at least had some kind of watchability to them (Keenum, Schaub drama, etc.). However, yesterday's game was so BORING that I just couldn't make myself watch the 2nd half. Up until yesterday, you could say a lot of things about this team....but you could never say they were BORING. Up until yesterday, that is.

Watching this Washington/San Fran game. Washington reminds me so much of Houston. Terrible coaching and offense.
Thats what irked me the most about Kubiak, he could have the slightest lead and go into prevent mode instead of playing ball and putting teams away, his wussy ways is what this teams personality became.
