I still say, and I believe this with my whole heart, Case Keenum is the best of the three. He is not the most experienced, but he is the most skilled. He can throw better, run better, and innovate better. I think he has made the best of a very difficult situation. I don't think the play calling always put him in the best position. Posters and commentators keep talking about he didn't handle the blitz well, but few discuss why changes weren't made to help him. Good question. The coaching staff had four weeks to put in screens, draws, roll outs, etc. to combat the problem. They seemingly did nothing to help him. Why? Why not more players in the backfield to block? I don't understand. It is like they hung him out there to do or die. When Schaub came in suddenly we saw new formations, better protection, more time.

We should stop calling him Kubes. After his idiotic decision today he is dead to me.

He benched the man who made it fun to at least watch the last few games of the season this year for the man who ruined this season.

    Epic Fail by Kubiak!

Yeah this part is really baffling to me. It's definitely what I think I'm seeing, but it all reeks of the perspective of a delusional fan (i.e. "McHale is setting up Jeremy Lin to fail!") and I really don't want to be that guy.

Clearly, some of this has to be on Keenum, but I didn't really notice if there were any dumpoff or short/intermediate options available for him when he was getting brains blitzed out today--or for the past few weeks. Do we need to get Schaub to teach him how to dink and dunk?!

QB's learn how to handle the blitz/pressure with time.

Peyton Manning wasn't sacked against the same defense that seemed to be able to sack Keenum whenever they wanted to.

Also, for all of you questioning why there are no "quick pass plays called" when Keenum is in... There were underneath check down routes open. Keenum tends to want to go down field more instead of taking what the defense is allowing. He's shown this over 4 consecutive weeks.

Even if he's still getting the hang of things, coaches may get frustrated when you make the same mistakes 4 games in a row (I'm sure there's a pick-6 joke somewhere on here).

Dre already said the play calls were the same.

Plus, I thought out coaches were incapable of mid game adjustments...

The defense certainly played Schaub differently... And thus the plays develop differently.

I'll take a QB who takes his chances deep, within reason, over a QB who checks down constantly and throws short of the marker on 3rd down almost all of the time.

I'd venture to guess that from an analytics standpoint, we're much better off gambling on the deep ball than checking down.

Taking what the defense gives you = big yardage and field goals instead of TDs

Going deep more often = more 3 and outs, but more touchdowns

Only a fool pulls Keenum and inserts Shaub under the circumstances..... but that is Kubiak.

I'm not advocating always checking down.

You "take what the defense gives you" when the defense is selling out on blitzes, and taking away any chance of having enough time for completing the deep pass.

You convert enough of those opportunities to force the defense to adjust its strategy... if you don't complete enough of them, the defense will never adjust and you'll constantly be staring an all-out blitz that noticeably affects your performance.

I admire Case's ability to complete downfield throws, and look for the opportunistic pass. I am NOT a fan of Schaub always checking down. However, if the defense is denying the long pass... and bringing the heat... you have to have a QB back there that knows how to get the ball out fast and make the defense adjust.

Case can and should improve... but for the last 4 games, he hasn't figured it out yet.

Looking that way. I still think keenum has potential but this whole team has absolutely given up... Totally uninspired play, even from AJ. Unfortunately I don't see a real franchise qb in this draft, contrary to all it's hype.

Didn't see the game today, but it appears that the team has quit with a capital Q, so assessment is skewed. Case showed signs of real potential in the first few games, then without protection his strengths were nullified. I would like to see him in a different system, better line, different coaching. But, frankly, I don't think he made the best of a bad situation. He kind of got caught in the vortex with everyone else.

I think he is a little overrated. He has a few interception that have been dropped.

Remember when people though both Yates and Keenum were starters in this league and that we should trade one or both for high draft picks?

The things that make him ultra effective in college will not transfer to the big leagues. Scrambling for yards and tossing jump balls is a recipe for disaster in the nfl.

I'm an Aggie, and even I don't believe Johnny Football will be even close to a franchise QB in the NFL. I personally feel like a career back up is his ceiling. If you want to know why I think this, watch a replay of A&M vs. LSU from yesterday and see how an athletic front 4 dominated him and kept him in check. Now imagine 10x the athleticism and size in the NFL. Doesn't look too good for Johnny, and I hope to god the Texans don't gamble on him.
