Don't be surprised if we see a Blake Griffin for Carmelo Anthony blockbuster trade before the deadline.

We all know Melo and Chris Paul wanted to play together in New York, if NY keeps losing I expect NY will put him on the trade block and we all know Dolan loves big names.

Remember you heard it here first.

    Asik, DMo, Beverly

    for

    Taj Gibson
    Jimmy Butler
    Nikola Mirotic

Gotta give something to get something of worth.
Gibson gives us an interior defender, although probably not as good as Asik protecting the rim and rebounding, more tenacious and probably a better offensive player. Jimmy Butler gives us a legit perimeter defender and can play 2 or 3. Mirotic is the best European prospect not playing in the NBA.

Probably won't happen, but I think it's fair for both teams. We'd probably have to include a pick, but I think it's worth it.

    D12 / Gibson / Smith
    TJones / Casspi
    Parsons / Butler
    Harden / Brewer
    Lin / Brooks

Gibson is a 6'9 pf and you want him to play backup center?

He would start at pf next to Dwight.

I see us trading for Deng, not Gibson or Boozer. I wonder if the Bulls would be interested in acquiring Aaron Brooks as part of the deal.

They don't need a point guard, they have D. Rose…oh.

    Too soon?

Maybe but don't forget Brooks has to give consent to a trade this year. Maybe Brooks say F it, and wants to go, but its probably enough of an iffy factor that it keeps him out of the conversation.

With the issues Teague has had this year, I'd say that they would def. be interested in a PG though. Not sure if they want a big splash deal with Lin & Asik or go for a young prospect like Canaan instead attached to Asik. With the loss of Rose, I could see Chicago's GM thinking Lin might be an interesting replacement if they could get ahold of him and make the numbers work.

Deng, seems right now to be the player that would make the most sense for Houston. Can play Parsons and Deng together for a good majority of the game, or go bit with Parsons at the 2 for stretches as well. Only issue is what happens with his free agency situation. I know the Rockets want to stay flexible for the Summer of 2015, and Deng is a free agent this Summer. Not sure if that would be a downside the Rockets would look at.

I have no doubt that Morey and Chicago's people will be in constant communication the next few weeks thats for sure. There are a ton of spare parts on both sides that could really help each other out.

Do you think Brooks would say no if he had a chance to be a for-sure rotation player for the rest of the season? It seems like Morey could go talk to him about the trade and get his answer before trying to pull the trigger on anything.

I think he could easily get 20+ minutes on a Rose-less Bulls, and I'm sure he would like that. It's not like they're a terrible team even without Rose. They're still going to have a winning record in the Least and make the playoffs.

One of my random trade ideas #4873

Houston Out: Jeremy Lin,Omer Asik, send Pick to Charlotte
Houston In: Arron Afflalo, Ramon Sessions, Bismack Biyombo

-Houston gets a Defender and 3 ball shooter who can move to the 3 and move Parsons to the 4,backup PG in Sessions and back up C in Biyombo

Charlotte Out: Ramon Sessions,Bismack Biyombo, Ben Gordon,Brendan Haywood
Charlotte In:Omer Asik,Jameer Nelson, Hedo Turkeyglues Contract, Houstons 1st Round Pick
-Charlotte Gets a Pick from us get a Defensive center who will go well with Al,get a backup PG in Nelson who can score and get an expiring in Hedo who might want to play with Asik.(Unlikely tho)

Orlando Out: Arron Afflalo, Jameer Nelson,Hedo Turkeyglue
Orlando In: Jeremy Lin,Ben Gordon,Brendan Haywood
-They get a really good starting PG and will get marketing from Lin also they can start Victor at his natural position and also get a backup C for Nikola in Haywood, and get a sixth man and expiring in Gordon(Gordon really wants out of Charlotte)

    Potential Lineups/Depth Charts:
    Houston
    Bev/Sessions/Brooks/Canaan
    Harden/Garcia
    Afflalo/Casspi/Brewer/Covington
    Parsons/Jones/Donatas
    Howard/Biyombo/Smith

    Charlotte
    Walker/Nelson/Pargo
    Henderson/Taylor
    MKG/Hedo/Southerland
    Al/McRoberts/Adrien/Tolliver
    Asik/Zeller

    Orlando
    Lin/Price/Moore
    Victor/Gordon/Lamb
    Harris/Harkless
    Nicholson/Davis/Maxiell/Jones/Quinn
    Nikola/Haywood

That's not fair value. Mirotic is arguably the best player in Europe already, at 22. The way he's playing, he'd be in the running for top 5 selection in the 2014 draft. He's alone worth more than the Houston package. And Butler/Gibson aren't too shabby either. Butler is an about top 20 wing in the league, Gibson is all-defense caliber.

In the big picture, Bulls/Asik ideas make little sense overall. I get that some Houston radio guy came up with a rumor that the Bulls want Asik back, but basketball wise, why?

^ That looks like a huge god damn trade. Probably too many players involved to happen. I like it for the Rockets though, it would meet all our needs (PG position stays about the same, perimeter D upgrade, backup 4 upgrade via sliding Parsons over some, decent backup center).

Here is how I would simplify the trade:

PLUS Orlando gets Houston's first round pick

    Lin/Bev
    Harden/Lin
    Afflalo/Parsons
    Jones/Parsons
    Howard/Biyombo

I really doubt the rebuilding Bobcats with a center who's making 14 million a year would want to give up their promising young 2nd overall pick for a 27 year old Omer Asik.

MKG ain't that promising. He's a career roleplayer, possibly a good one in the future, but nothing more.

And keep in mind the Bobcats are 7-7 and they're currently 6th in the East. I wouldn't rule them out for making a splash in an effort to make the playoffs.

Also, Al Jefferson is not a center... he's a power forward. And he's a huge liability on D. They need a guy like Asik to cover for his deficiencies

I dig it tho I would give Charlotte Harris tho, he is probably a better prospect then Harkless. I live in NC ,I dont think Charlotte would give up on MKG,he is really young and they like his hustle and defensive potential I think they are okay with him being like a Gerald Wallace for them. The only thing I would change with my trade is giving the pick to Orlando instead of Charlotte with Lin.

But I see Charlotte as a potential partner they really care about making the playoffs here and really want to get the team decent for the fans when we go back to the Hornets.

Also in the trade, Por sends Houston their first round protected draft pick and Houston sends their second round draft pick from NY (looking like that could be a low 2nd rounder ... did we already trade that?) to Chicago.

I doubt Bulls would give up Deng for Lin...

are there any other scenarios where Lin goes to Chicago? What else can Chicago give to rockets? Deng is just not something I can see the bulls giving up. Not for Lin anyway.

The only reason I thought it would make sense is because they desperately need a play making point guard now. They are not going to just blow up their team. Deng is prob. their most expendable starter with Butler on the team. They will not be able to pay Deng next season and they need to make room for Butler as he is emerging as a very nice player to have for 15% the cost of Deng.

Houston would have two first round draft picks from the trade and still keep their second round pick, so if they need to give up two picks or a player like Dmo, it would be worth it.

Deng satisfies so many of our needs it is not even funny.
