Haha, as much as I would love for this to happen, I doubt they would give us Davis even for both Harden and Dwight.

Who's side are you on? We end up with the worst of the deal by far. Garnett's got nothing left in the tank.

I've stated repeatedly for the past couple of months or so that the most logical destination for O. Asik is Portland. I have repeatedly stated that Portland can offer Robin Lopez (very good backup C, and an expiring contract) and either their 2013 first round pick (C.J. McCollom) or a future (2016 or 2017) first round pick.

If Portland will offer such a package for Asik (and I think they will) then Morey would then attempt to turn it into a three-team deal by offering Lopez with J. Lin and/or McCollom (ot Portland's 2016/2017 first round pick) and/or D. Motiejunas. Maybe a four-team deal.

Alternatively, Morey could simply keep what he gets back here from Portland. That's what I think happens, especially with T. Jones' strong play.

There is also the question of what to do with J. Lin, whose trade value is pretty solid right now. If Houston gets McCollom from Portland then Lin becomes expendable, and the Rockets should sell high. I suspect Milwaukee would trade a protected first round pick with Caron Butler's expiring contract for Lin. I also suspect that Utah would trade Andris Biedrins' expiring contract with a protected first round pick for Lin. Houston may add D. Motiejunas to sweeten the deal. If/when this first round pick turns into something like the #10 overall pick in a couple of years, that's a very nice return for Lin.

So, Morey could replace Asik with Lopez, Lin with McCollom, reduce 2014-15 payroll significantly (thus significantly improving "cap flexibility"), and add a first round pick (from Milwaukee or Utah) to its asset pile. Houston would still be very good this year (probably just as good as they are right now, since Asik isn't even playing; I'm very high on McCollom) and would clearly be in a better position beyond this season.

These sorts of moves are going to baffle most Rockets fans initially but these are smart moves.

DEN trades: McGee, Fournier, 2014 1st
    DEN gets: T.Chandler, A.Bradley
    - Denver doesn't want to tank, and Shaw wants to go defensive. They pick up two defensive stalwarts.

    BOS trades: Rondo, Bradley, Bass
BOS gets: McGee, Motiejunas, Fournier, Canaan, DEN 1st
    - Boston clears house and gets 2 high-potential bigs, a valuable pick, and a wing with upside.

    NYK trades: T.Chandler, Shumpert, 2014 1st
    NYK gets: Rondo, Asik
    - NY makes one last gasp to try to win now, and gets a star PG to get the ball to Melo. Asik gives them a defensive C without injury problems.

    HOU trades: Asik, Motiejunas, Canaan
HOU gets: Shumpert, Bass, NY 1st
    - HOU gets their perimeter defender, a veteran PF who can play some rotation minutes, and a valuable pick.

Gordon has been healthy this year. But history shows he's been more injury prone than TMac.

    Thank You!

People go crazy because Durant scores the most points, but fail to realize that he needs to get better on defense. Paul George can score and play defense.

I can't believe that people think George is not in Durants league when George played Lebron better than Durant did in the Finals.

George is the truth and very underrated by this board. Like I said if the season ended today Paul George would be the MVP.

I wouldn't be stunned to see some sort of three- or four-way way trade between Houston, Toronto, Detroit, and Portland.

Houston goes after Josh Smith and gets Robin Lopez, too, and maybe another minor player from Portland.

Toronto gets Jeremy Lin and a bunch of Detroit expirings (Villanueva, Stuckey) and maybe picks from Toronto and Detroit.

Detroit gets Rudy Gay and DeMarr Derozen.

Portland (getting Asik and Some Rocket Who Never Plays Much)

    ---------------------------

Somewhere in this, maybe we'd have to yield Dmo, and Toronto would get Detroit's conditional first rounder and maybe McCollum or a Portland future first rounder.

We set ourselves up to win with the PF we kinda wanted (he isn't Love, but we ain't getting him), Toronto to tank, Portland doesn't really give up anyone of consequence to get Asik, Detroit was after Gay anyway and balances out their roster to not suck.

LeBron beat them both so what does it matter... But KD averaged 30 points a game during the finals and LeBron averaged 28... LeBron averaged 29 points against Indiana during the ECF and George averaged 19.... So apparently George's defense wasn't as good as you make it out to be when it counted and neither was his offense.

And Indiana has played nothing but garbage teams so far... Haven't played any good teams. So I don't see how you can give someone MVP after such a cupcake schedule.

But George is very talented but his track record is still short. Have to see if he can sustain what he's doing before you crown him better than or on the same level as Durant.

I see ll you bring up is scoring when you talk about Durant.

I guess winning the scoring title makes you the best player in the NBA?

    What about defense?

    Durant's level?

What has he done to have a level?

There are only 3 active NBA players who have a level.

    1.Lebron
    2.Kobe
    3.Duncan

Everybody else has no level until they lead their team to multiple championships.

You mean the Josh Smith on a new four year deal? Unlikely.

Here is how I envision the Rockets roster after the two suggested trades (O. Asik & R. Brewer to Portland for C.J. McCollom & Robin Lopez, and J. Lin to Milwaukee for a protected first round pick + Caron Butler's expiring contract):

    Starting lineup

    PG Patrick Beverly 32 minutes/game
    SG James Harden 36 min/g
    SF Chandler Parsons 32 min/g
    PF Terrence Jones 32 min/g
    C Dwight Howard 32 min/g

    The rest of the rotation

    C.J. McCollom 28 min/g
    Robin Lopez 16 min/g
    Francisco Garcia 16 min/g
    Omri Casspi 16 min/g

    End of the bench

    Donatas Motiejunas
    Greg Smith
    Aaron Brooks
    Caron Butler

    Stashed in the d-league

    Isaiah Canaan
    Robert Covington

Note that D. Motiejunas is rotting at the end of the bench. Will he be traded for a draft pick? A very late first rounder or a very early second rounder? That would be a good idea.

Also note that the expiring contracts of R. Lopez and C. Butler can be packaged with D. Motiejunas and/or draft picks if/when a really good/expensive veteran is available in mid-February. So don't assume that the 2013-14 roster is a finished product after my proposed mid-December Asik and Lin trades.

I like what you did there. Most of the trade ideas in this thread are ridiculous, but you make a lot of sense.
