I have the issue with the "willing passer". I think he is sometimes a willing passer. But he also can be a ball stopper and go ISO crazy or playmaker crazy. He can use a post-up game too to diversify his game, he doesn't have much of a medium range game either. So his offensive game can still use a good amount of work.

What is superstar? We have two one way superstars at least.

    lazy
    cherry picking.

Here's a list of the guys who have had a 25 PER the last five years:

    Lebron 5 times
    Wade 4 times
    Paul 3 times
    Durant 3 times
    Howard 2 times
    Bosh 1 time
    Love 1 time

PER isn't perfect(like every other stat), but it's a pretty good indicator of who is a superstar.

We don't have superstars, only two allstars.

So Lin could make the Allstar game but Harden is doubtful...right.

I'm pretty sure Harden will be a top 5 scorer for most of the season, as Paul George's average drops (my guess he'll always be around 20 ppg) and Hardens will be close to 25 ppg for most of the season. Hard to imagine a top 5 scorer in the NBA not being a lock for the all-star game.

Legends sound so old. Let's call them first ballot, Top Hall of Famers.

Yeah, we never saw Harden hit clutch shots or close out games last year. I swear some posters act like superstars never fail.

Yep, I think that's the definition some people have it. A guy that just never fails and that's not true.

Wasn't long ago that people were joking about how Lebron was never clutch and sucked in the 4th qtr...

Any ways IMO a superstar is a guy that is a lock for the all-star game every year. Those guys are rare. Dwight is certainly that, Harden he's going to still have to prove he's that but I think he gets in another year since he's still scoring well and this while his 3 point shot is off.

of course they fail..but if you miss more clutch shots to close out games than make, then obviously you're not clutch..if people actually think harden is clutch right now they are definitely wrong.

his Cleveland days lebron was not clutch period..once he got to miami he took that step to become clutch and won so many games for them when they needed it in the end.

What superstar is hitting over 50% of their clutch shots? The % on such a stat for these players are pretty low.

First off- the Rox have two sure fire all stars. That alone is reason for celebration when just a 14 months ago our best player was Kevin Martin.

Secondly- the term superstar is so subjective it gets on my nerves when people continue to put their personal spin on it and treat it as fact.

-Do casual fans consider them household names and pay money to see them when they come visit.... Yes. Could either one of these guys win an MVP... Dwight earlier in his career yes, and Harden later in his career yes... They have a chance.

-also in the eastern conference, at least two of the rockets could be all stars. If Deng and Holiday can make it, Parsons and Lin would have good chances.

So two really good All Stars, two borderline all stars, a defensive poy caliber center, and several young prospects ....the Rockets are collectively a marquee team.... Superstar or not.

BS. Nobody routinely makes more than 50% on game winning shots. Check the stats.

They are not hitting over 50% of their clutch shots. Lebron James on such shots was around 40% on 'clutch' shots is like 30% tops.

Thats from a older 06 season, but you get a good idea of it. Guys like Kobe are considered clutch but look at the numbers.

The truth is if Harden is the go to guy for the last shot he'll make some and he'll miss some and people will remember the ones he made more than those he missed.

You said "shots to close out games". What else do you mean by that?

    It's not?

Okay then so you are going to ignore all those shots that Harden made before he missed? Dallas was getting closer, Harden posts up, draws the defense, kicks out to Bev for a three...comes down next offensive possession drains a three...is that just not counted then because he missed the game tying three?

If we are not counting game winners than Harden is DEFINITELY one of the most clutch players in the NBA today.
