If you were interested in it before, maybe still check it out. I don't know what you might have liked about it, but it is possible you might still enjoy it. I'm enjoying Knack, despite it getting panned by most reviewers. Kind of sucks that XBO livestreaming won't be available at launch since I think livestreaming is what sold Knack to a lot of gamers (despite the reviews).
I wouldn't anticipate anytime soon. I think maybe we'll get some "GOTY" editions ported to PS4/XBO though. IIRC, it sounds like Tomb Raider will get that treatment (and Injustice got that treatment too).
My son wants the XBO, but I just think that I will wait this time. These just isn't much of a pressing need for it, it's not fully ready yet, and the price is the highest it will ever be. Any ideas about whether anyone will put these on any kind of special sale or bundle sale between now and Christmas? I expect no, since they will be in short supply anyway, but I just can't bring myself to pay top dollar for something that seems to be essentially still in Beta.
Same here, really disappointed to see it getting slammed. Looks like Dead Rising and Battlefield for me besides the games I have trade ups for.
My sentiments exactly. Heck it took me a good 2 full years before I dived and plunged into getting a PS3 after its initial launch and I still rarely ever play it except for a few games here and there and bluray movies. But if you're a hardcore gamer and big on gadgets, I can understand the need to getting one.
True...I liked the graphics of Ryse, but ultimately, it's the gameplay that matters...and I was hoping that aspect of the game was up to par (or at least close) to the level of the graphics. I'll probably still check out the game, but it'll probably be if/when the price drops to $20. In the meantime, I'll keep my eyes open for gameplay videos...it's just that the repetitive nature of the game disappoints me. Looks like Ill be starting out of the gates with Forza and BF4.
I'm with you on Ryse rezdawg. I got in on the dell deal and got $50 after purchasing CoD and BF4, so I saw it as essentially buy 2, get 1 free. I was debating between Dead Rising 3 or Ryse, but I can confidently eliminate Ryse for the time being. Forza looks very intriguing and might be the best overall launch game, but I'm not sure I'll play it as much as I should. So now I'm debating between Dead Rising 3 or simply getting another controller. Controllers rarely go on sale, so although it's boring, it probably makes more sense to get a controller now and just wait for either of the games I'd debating between to have a price drop.
I guess I'm just saying don't always assume your eyes are wrong and the reviewer's eyes are right. If you were watching gameplay clips of Ryse before (and there were tons IIRC), and it seemed good/fun, maybe it is (at least to you). Reviewers tend to get weird with some games. If it doesn't reinvent the wheel, it sucks and is shallow/boring/etc. I'm not necessarily saying Ryse is a good game. I wasn't too impressed with the gameplay in the first few videos I saw. But if I was impressed with them, I don't think I'd let these reviews change my mind. I'm enjoying Knack (which also got panned), and Warframe (Metacritic score of 67, at least for PC version) might be my favorite PS4 game right now. Yes, this is another RC Cola rant against video game reviewers and the games media.
This^^ A few years ago I was at gamestop during Christmas time.... I had a little bit of money and wanted something to play during my holiday off from school. I had done no researched and was just browsing. I was looking for anything sci-fi..... I found a game called Advent Rising on the original xbox... It seemed interesting to me so I took it home. Popped the disc in and was blown away by the music and cinematic ambition. I loved the way the game played although not perfect and with some fault but I had an incredible time. The game was also somewhat buggy but I didnt get too much....... The end result was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had with one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard for a game. Went to see reviews after and they were awful... I still love Advent Rising... This is Advent Rising <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/BKQu4IZDG0I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Fav song in the game.... Wait for it..... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/B-cgFP3rRW4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Check out this review from Ars. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/...u-need-to-know-in-the-ps4-vs-xbox-one-battle/
Not surprised about RYSE, it looked tremendously boring on all the videos I watched. I think I'm sticking with just NBA 2k14 and possibly battlefield.
The rest of the article is fine I guess, but Ars should probably quit trying to pretend they're a tech site if they're going to put out crap like that. Much prefer Anand's "mini-review," which wasn't filled with such inaccuracies.
I find user reviews more useful than critic reviews. My favorite motion game from last gen was The Fight Lights Out. It turned out to be one of my most played games from the entire generation. On this game, nearly every critic review I saw was a negative review, but nearly every user review was a positive review. Critics were critical on some generic measures like the game wasn't colorful enough and stuff while the people who were actually interested in the game were pleased to see their expectations being met and found the game fun to play with. As a player I care about the later much more important.
I have one I pre-ordered that I pick up at The Woodlands Mall on Friday at the MS Store, believe with COD Ghosts if anybody wants to buy it, for exactly what I paid, not looking to make money off it, but I bought the PS4 as well and decided I will keep that one instead.
So far from everything I've read and seen on both consoles, it seems like I made the right choice going with the more tech-heavy console.
I'm starting to think Amazon is going to screw me on getting me the console tomorrow even though it says estimated delivery date is tomorrow. It hasn't shipped yet. It's one-day business shipping. I'm thinking maybe they don't have one available even though I have an order for one when they opened up pre-orders on Wednesday morning. We will see I guess. I'm going to be pissed if I don't get it tomorrow after all that.
Amazon was pretty late with shipping PS4s too, but they were still delivered. IIRC, mine shipped from Stafford, so depending on where you're located, they may just ship it later since it won't take long to arrive.
I'm getting that one for sure. I'm not really sure what else is out? Have you'll seen these lag switches that people use to cheat? Is it widespread with a bunch of goobers employing lag switches to get the upper hand in multi-player matches? That's going to be lame if that's what the multi-player experience has become.
