exactly ive watched shump plenty of times this year. when he first started playing he was all about defense. now not so much. Definitely not the same intensity anymore whether it be because of acl surgery or hes developing an ego now.

Shump is available but the knicks are looking to get better and looking for win now pieces, pieces we don't have. Butler is not going anywhere, that is their Kawhi/Parsons and potentially Deng replacement.

I'm not so worried with cheap, as in rookie contacts. I would love bringing Courtney Lee back. He's got a bit of a hefty contract at 5.5 mill, but he would be the perfect role player here. The epitome of D and 3. He stank it up last year but has been playing good thus far this year.

With Boston in complete rebuild/tank mode, we could likely trade dmo/brewer for Lee/2nd rd pick.

A 27 year old Ron Artest would be nice to have on the roster.

    Get er done, Morey! ;)

With that out of the way, who is attainable?

Yea but i don't find it a good one. It revolves us losing one of or main role players and to scorers for two lesser role players. I understand of he is an elite defender but in my eyes he is not. Courtney Lee i s a more polished performative player as well as a likely better fit. Not to mention he would carry a lesser price tag

That's what I'm trying to figure out. We know Shumis. Courtney Lee likely could be attained. But who else?

I don't think he is available. And is he even bear the defender he once was?

Crazy. Parsons seems to be playing for a contract and he knows offense brings in more $$$ than defense.

With Harden and Howard, all we need around them is Beverley, Jones and one 3&D guy. If that SF can't hit a 3, teams will fill up the paint and render Howard/Harden useless.

OTOH I see no reason why a team that starts Beverley, Parsons and Howard (and Asik off the bench) should be the worst defense in the league. Either effort or preparation (or both) is a problem here and we need to tighten up internally before looking for other solutions. This could be a matter of working one-on-one with T Jones on his D and informing Parsons that he needs to focus more on D and less on O.

Isn't NYK the one team where the averaged cap hold does not apply, even on a trade at this point? Meaning: not only would they pay Lin $15MM next year, they'd also take a cap hit of $15MM.

Can't see why they'd bite on that now when they passed on it before with less salary on the books for '14-'15.

Its just team defense and if they want to win a ring then they have to ALL buy into it, the same way all championship teams do.

We need a two way guy who's an elite perimeter defender. He needs to be able to contribute on offense but lock down on defense. He should be able to play off the ball and preferably be a SF. Most importantly this player should still be in his prime and actually be available in trade talks.

    Who fits this need:

    LUOL DENG!!!!

    GET IT DONE

If youre building around a star who is a defensive liability you need at least 3 good-amazing defenders around him. Think iverson.
