What, you're gonna bench Lin and play Howard at PG? Why does the 3rd best player on one team not get the same leash as the 7th best player on one team is the question you should be asking.
Patrick Beverley is the best PG in the team and he deserves more minutes. <a href="http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,ppg,238_248" target='_blank'>Jeremy Lin vs. Patrick Beverley</a> Per Game <table width='100%' class='inner1'><tr bgcolor='#FF99CC'><td>#</td><td>Player</td><td>Team</td><td>Pos</td><td title='Games Played'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,gp,238_248' target='_blank'>G</a></td><td title='Minutes Per Game'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,mpg,238_248' target='_blank'>MPG</a></td><td title='Field Goal Percentage'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,fg,238_248' target='_blank'>FG%</a></td><td title='3 Points Field Goal Percentage'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,f3p,238_248' target='_blank'>3P%</a></td><td title='Free Throw Percentage'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,ft,238_248' target='_blank'>FT%</a></td><td title='Offensive Rebounds'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,off,238_248' target='_blank'>OFF</a></td><td title='Defensive Rebounds'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,def,238_248' target='_blank'>DEF</a></td><td title='Rebounds'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,rpg,238_248' target='_blank'>RPG</a></td><td title='Assists'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,apg,238_248' target='_blank'>APG</a></td><td title='Steals'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,spg,238_248' target='_blank'>SPG</a></td><td title='Blocks'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,bpg,238_248' target='_blank'>BPG</a></td><td title='Turnovers'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,turnover,238_248' target='_blank'>TO</a></td><td title='Personal Fouls'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,pf,238_248' target='_blank'>PF</a></td><td title='Points'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,pg,ppg,238_248' target='_blank'>PPG</a></td></tr><tr onmouseover="this.style.backgroundColor='#CECECE';" onMouseOut="this.style.backgroundColor='#FFFFFF';"><td>1</td><td><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,player,248' target='_blank'>Jeremy Lin</a></td><td><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,team,17' target='_blank'>HOU</a></td><td>G</td><td>13</td><td>31.7</td><td>51.1</td><td>41.2</td><td>79.1</td><td>0.2</td><td>2.3</td><td>2.5</td><td>4.8</td><td>1.2</td><td>0.5</td><td>3.1</td><td>2.5</td><td>16.3</td></tr><tr onmouseover="this.style.backgroundColor='#CECECE';" onMouseOut="this.style.backgroundColor='#FFFFFF';"><td>2</td><td><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,player,238'>Patrick Beverley</a></td><td><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,team,17' target='_blank'>HOU</a></td><td>G</td><td>10</td><td>29.1</td><td>41.3</td><td>33.3</td><td>84.6</td><td>1.7</td><td>2.3</td><td>4.0</td><td>2.2</td><td>1.3</td><td>0.5</td><td>1.4</td><td>2.8</td><td>9.3</td></tr></table> Advance <table width='100%' class='inner1'><tr bgcolor='#FF99CC'><td>#</td><td>Player</td><td>Team</td><td>Pos</td><td title='Games Played'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,advance,gp,238_248' target='_blank'>G</a></td><td title='Efficiency Rating: (PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK − ((FGA − FGM) + (FTA − FTM) + TO))'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,advance,eff,238_248' target='_blank'>EFF</a></td><td title='Field Goals Attempted Per Game'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,advance,fgapg,238_248' target='_blank'>FGApg</a></td><td title='True Shooting Percentage'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,advance,ts,238_248' target='_blank'>TS%</a></td><td title='Assist Ratio'><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,advance,ast,238_248' target='_blank'>AST</a></td></tr><tr onmouseover="this.style.backgroundColor='#CECECE';" onMouseOut="this.style.backgroundColor='#FFFFFF';"><td>1</td><td><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,player,248' target='_blank'>Jeremy Lin</a></td><td><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,team,17' target='_blank'>HOU</a></td><td>G</td><td>13</td><td>16.15</td><td>10.4</td><td>0.644</td><td>23.6</td></tr><tr onmouseover="this.style.backgroundColor='#CECECE';" onMouseOut="this.style.backgroundColor='#FFFFFF';"><td>2</td><td><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,player,238'>Patrick Beverley</a></td><td><a href='http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,team,17' target='_blank'>HOU</a></td><td>G</td><td>10</td><td>11.00</td><td>8.0</td><td>0.542</td><td>18.1</td></tr></table>
The more appropriate question is - What other (better) coaches are available? The list is not that long. George Karl is at the top of my list. But really there aren't alot of viable alternatives when you look at the big picture. McHale has the advantage over "average joe" in this situation because of his HOF cred. And he agrees to defer to Morey for personell decisions and he trusts in Morey's analytics. That's a really big deal, actually. McHale is a "team player" among management and will not rock the boat. I think he's a good fit. I would only upgrade him for a true "superstar" coach.
This team needs a real coach running the game, not Analytics. Did the Mavs shy away from taking all those mid-range jumpers in crunch time because it was a supposedly an "inefficient" shot ?
Lin didn't even play poorly. 0/5 after chucking 3 last second 3's and coming in cold. Knew the Rockets were in trouble when McHale took him out.
READ: Yeah, I have no logic, don't read, so I'm gonna talk about wasting time and waste some of your time with a a nonresponse. But just in case you actually can't figure out why taking the most shots doesn't mean best player, here's a hint: http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/p.../fieldGoalsAttempted/position/shooting-guards http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/p...als/sort/fieldGoalsAttempted/position/centers
Analytics had nothing to do with the fourth quarter. The Mavs had plenty of wide-open shots because the defense broke down (and because Dirk knows how to get an open look). It doesn't matter where on the court you are, everyone agrees that you take the open shot. Period. No basketball stathead is going to tell you differently.
lin was horrible tn thats it lets just hope this never happens again if he plays well mchale will play him longer he just has to earn his minutes thats it
People misunderstand the midrange jumper "rule" - there is no actual rule against the midrange jumper - its ok to shoot but the emphasis is that you should get to the rim. Rockets have athletic players who can get to the rim, Dirk shoots the midrange because he is not a rim attacker. He is just a damn good shooter. If Dirk was in a Rockets jersey, he would still be shooting the midrange shot - because that's his shot. He's not a dunker.
He didn't play well, but the 17 minutes he did play wasn't the reason for tonight's loss. This isn't even about earning minutes. Lin plays longer whenever the team is struggling (eg 45 vs Raptors, 50 min vs Philly etc).
Bev did decent but he got to mainly played with better offensive players while Lin played mostly with Asik and Garcia in like 3 mins burst. Within that time he really couldnt do much since Harden or for some reason cassipi was handling the ball and pass to Lin at the last moment to shoot. Lin would of done better if he played with parsons Jones and Howard. Lin offensive rhythm was bad today and playing with Garcia and Asik doesn't help his game at all. He was forced to take them threes due to Harden dribbling the clock down and passing it to Lin at the last moment. Lin one bad shot was mainly that air ball. The rest just didn't go down. Lack of Lin turnovers was also an issue since it meant he didn't really get to do much only playing 17 minutes. When was the last time we won a game where Lin didn't have a turnover? Mchale rotation and substitutions choices was pretty lacking. Lin Asik Garcia Cassipi is a terrible lineup combination. Asik is an offensive blackhole and cant handle the ball and does lazy ass passes. Garcia been struggling for many games. Harden really needs to do more on defense. His lack of it really cost us this game. Harden not really a clutch player he only had one game where he made the last shot and won us a game. He needs to stop trying to do it all himself, dribbling the clock down so much and try to run plays with his teammates. High points were are bigs and Parson. Lin was needed in this game but cant really do much with limited minutes and making him cold with weird subs and the lineup he was mainly playing with.
That logic in itself is twisted. You're basically saying unless you come in and instantly play well, you're done for the night. What other 6th man is held to that ridiculous standard? With JR Smith, Jamal Crawford , you name it, guys who are arguably even streakier than Lin! They can have a 1-8 first half and the coach will always play them in the 2nd knowing they can turn it around. Rivers and Woodson would never say to themselves "well he's not playing well in about half the minutes, i think i should sit him the rest of the way!" It's like a baseball player going 0-3 in the 5th inning and you decide he needs to come out cause he not hot!
Talk about basic logic fail. If you leave the goal posts alone you'll waste less time with pointless information. Good luck.
Why did Lin have a bad game? 1) McHale's fault 2) Harden's fault 3) Dwight's fault 4) Asik's fault 5) Beverley's fault 6) <s> Lin's fault</s> (Not Possible)
Why McHate McHating on Linny? Me hates McHate! Rockets not likes Linny! Linny Precious!!! Linny Precious!!!!
