Why did Dmo not get any burn tonight when he has been playing well lately? This is unforgiveable. The second unit could have used him when they were having trouble scoring.
But Asik is giving a half-hearted effort out there while Dmo would at at least be competing and playing hard.
Defense was the biggest issue tonight. Dmo still needs to get better on that end. Could have used more scoring off the bench though.
You have to look at the context of the game. We played last night. Absolutely inexcusably by McHale to not play an on the cusp rotation player in this situation. TJones clearly deserves to play more over D-Mo, but not to this extent. 33 minutes for Jones and 0 minutes for Motiejunas in the 2nd game of a back to back? Another moronic game for McHale.
I'm not the biggest McHale fan, but I had no problem with this decision. What the hell would DMo bring to that game? Give Dirk multiple and-1's?
This. He can't guard Dirk. Should we switch him for Dwight who is shooting at one point 11-11 or Jones who shot 8-13? b**** please.
If scoring was the problem, D-Mo might have needed to see some burn. It was defense that was the issue, and it didn't surprise me at all that Asik got dusted off a little bit tonight. Asik was ok I guess. Had a great block I think at the end of the 3rd, but had some butterfinger moments as well that cost them a few possessions. Asik getting burn instead of D-Mo tonight was the right call.
D-Mo isn't a shooting guard/Small forward…. not sure if you've seen that yet or not. Garcia is a 3 point specialist who is in a shooting slump… not much you can really do about that. You desperately need him to get it going at some point here pretty soon, or that 2nd unit is really going to struggle. Gotta get him going somehow.
