I don't think we need a 4 right now. Of course that could change by trade deadline, but I think we are alright there. What is like to see is more defense on the wings and more reliable 3pt shooting. I would not mind getting Courtney lee as he fits the bill. But one thing Morey has to keep in mind is team chemistry and minutes. You don't want another Asik situation where you have players good enough to play sitting on the bench disgruntled.
Stephen A Smith is saying he believes Melo wants out of NY. Who says no to this trade: NY: Lin Asik Filler (DMo, Smith, Jones, etc) Hou: Melo Houston becomes instant contenders with a big 3 of Melo/Harden/Dwight. You no longer have the issue with Harden/Lin or Beverly/Lin. Melo works best as an offball/catch and shoot guy. Oh btw, Dwight is packing the paint in the middle. NY gets some much needed ball movement with Lin instead of fatty Felton and iso-Melo. They can then package Chandler for something since Asik does the same thing for half the cost. It's a win win situation.
Melo, off the ball catch and shoot type player? You don't say... He would iso and hold the rock and count down the shot clock even worse than harden. Only difference would be harden actually possess and is good at it.
Hell yea Golden State would make that deal. Especially since Jerry West was trying very hard to trade for Harden and give him the 5 year max so he could be in the backcourt with Curry. But Murrey is not stupid enough to make his team an 8th seed playoff contender and make Golden State even more of a championship contender.
Oddly, I think the opposite. Harden gets a bad rap for passing to others with time running down and placing them in a position to take tough shots. Melo does well with shot clock running down as he loves being put in the position to shoot tough shots.
The only way we get Melo is if we trade James Harden. My question to you is do you think Melo would be a better fit next to Dwight than Harden? We probably could get Melo/Shumpert for Harden/Brewer. pg:Lin sg:Shumpert sfarsons pf:Melo cwight Call me crazy but that lineup has a lot more balance than our current lineup, and we would still have Asik as a trade chip. Flame on!
Asik for Robin Lopez + Dorrell Wright? Robin Lopez is a serviceable backup for 10-15 minutes a game and although Wright can't be traded until after Dec 15, he'd give us another three point shooter to surround Dwight with. Wright is also close friends with Lin so the chemistry is there. The only problem is trading Asik in conference. I know many people want LMA but with how well the Trailblazers are doing, he's just a pipe dream right now.
I don't think you understand why I would make that trade. We would still have a go-to scorer (Melo), but we would have tremendous fit around him. 2 great role players (Parsons/Lin), 2 great defensive players (Dwight/Shumpert), Melo can do what he does best which is score. Lets be honest who in the West can stop a Melo/Dwight frontcourt? Melo is too fast for Duncan/Randolph/Griffin. We basically would be trading Harden for Melo/Shumpert, does that still sound like a crazy idea?
24 year old star for a soon enough 30 year old star who has given no indication that he even wants to play in Houston. There have to be less painful ways to add a little bit of spacing. Like, trading Asik.
Howard does a good enough job of stopping himself... He has no post game... Lol. And who in da heck is Melo going to guard _ Durant, Love, Duncan, LMA, David Lee, Z-Bo, etc will eat him for lunch... Shumpert's defense hasn't been very good this year _ was he guarding Harden last week...???? Plus Melo would probably bolt at the end of the year and head to L.A. and leave Houston high and dry. So yes _ that idea sounds crazy as hell... But that's just my opinion. No disrespect intended.
Rockets in love Out asik jones Dmo beverly Knicks in asik williams dmo barrae Out chandler shumpert Wolves in chandler shumpert jones Beverly Out love barrea
Rockets in Shumpert $1,700,000 2013-2014 $2,600,000 2014-2015 Udrih $1,270,000 2013-2014 (vet min) Knicks in Lin $8,300,000 2013-2014 $8,300,000 2014-2015 Brewer $1,270,000 2013-2014 (vet min) Rockets do this Shumpert - to get a perimeter defender who has shown he can guard rose, paul george, lebron, wade. Unlike brewer he is young, athletic and can give you offense also when he is on the floor. Knicks have said he is on the trade block. He is also on a cheap contract gives you more room if you want to trade asik for someone one worth more than his $8,300,000. Dont have to settle for the players we have been talking about here. udrih- a reliable backup point guard, not as much offense as lin but he is a true PG that can shoot and plays smart does not turn the ball over VET. Knicks do this Lin -is missed in NY will start there and they are having problems with feltons play and health, and need some spark or hope for that team. Knicks will take him back happily Brewer- can help them on D their coach would actually give him some mins when they need someone to guard certain players unlike what mchale does here. No reason to have him on the rockets roster for defense if mchale will not use him because of his offense. What you guys think ?????
I think a much fairer and simpler trade would be Rockets in: Ilyasova Bucks in: Jeremy Lin If we could do that deal then we could turn Asik into something special...perhaps Hawes and Thad Young for Asik and DMo and then move Young to the Kings for Mbah A Moute and Fredette.
I like Lin and what he brings on offense but, the truth is he will be on the bench if beverley is having a ok game. We showed last night they we can put up points even win lin scored 1 point. I just feel that defense is more of a need right now. Shumpert can give harden or parsons rest and can up our defense when he is in the game.
Rockets In: Melo, Shumpert Rockets Out: Asik, Lin, TJones, Rockets 2014 & 2016 1st Chicago In: Asik, Aldridge Chicago Out: Noah, Boozer, Charlotte #1 Portland In: Noah Portland Out: Aldridge Knicks In: Boozer, Lin, TJones, Charlotte 2014 1st, Rocket's 2014 & 2016 1st Knicks Out: Melo, Shumpert
Thats does not solve our need of perimeter defense. We would have more money also to include with the asik trade if we do the lin to NY swap. I would rather have jones start over Ilysova.
