I don't think anyone can answer that for you. Are there any games you can't live without? Frankly there isn't for me, but I am still quite happy with the purchase. As I'm reading reviews for Xbox One I feel quite vindicated as well. I know the experience will get better, and the games will only get better as well. If you can hold off until the next wave of games (Infamous: Second Son, Destiny's beta, etc) I wouldn't advise against it. If you're the type who needs to have it first like myself, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the features you get.

Posted this in the XBO, but since it kind of talks about PS4 too, thought I'd post it here as well:
    http://anandtech.com/show/7528/the-xbox-one-mini-review-hardware-analysis
He compares the PS4 and XBO to each other a bit, and has some final words about his (early) opinions about the consoles.

edit: I actually passed over the web browser tests initially, but wow. PS4 browser seems substantially faster, and I think it still kind of sucks. Maybe not the best benchmarks, but a bit surprised by that.

Am I good on my manufacturers warranty or do I need to register my console somewhere? Not sure where they receipt is, have one online from Amazon though.

Think you do need a date of purchase, though maybe registration makes it easier in case you can no longer provide that. Don't think it is required though.

This CoD Ghosts thing is pretty hilarious:
    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/d...xed-and-whats-not-in-the-cod-ghosts-ps4-patch
It sounds like the game is/was running at greater than 60 FPS, which likely resulted in some of the "unstable framerate" impressions. This has been such a mess of a game. Would someone really want to put this game on their resume? Of course they would...but geez Infinity Ward....get it together!

Great job by the journalists and reviewers from a couple of weeks ago though. Good to know that you can't sneak anything by them!

As it stands now, it seems like the PS4 is the superior system.

So was the PS3 compared to the 360. That didn't make the overall experience any better. Granted, changes made to PS4 make coding more coder-friendly this time around. I plan on getting the PS4 eventually I would imagine...if those superiorities are realized and make a big difference in the overall experience.

Like you said it is a 100% different situation now. The Xbox One is technically less powerful, more difficult to code for, and more expensive (significantly more expensive if you factor in all the nickel and diming Microsoft does; proprietary connectors, pay wall, etc). PS3 was more powerful than the Xbox, more expensive, and more difficult to code for. Quite different.

Should I pay for the 1 year warranty in case my PS4 does not work? Is it worth it? What happens if the PS4 doesnt work and I dont get the warranty? Can I still return it for a new one?

If you bought it with a card then remember that those usually double your warranty up to an extra year dependent upon how long the original warranty is.

    Ex.

Product comes with 3 month warranty, credit card makes it 6 months.

Product comes with 1 year warrant, credit card makes it 2 years.

Product comes with 5 year warranty, credit card makes it 6 years.

I've been saying this in a couple of places, but I think another key difference is that while the PS3 was more powerful overall, its design wasn't better. It had a crazy powerful CPU, but its GPU was weaker than the 360's GPU. The PS3 also had a split RAM setup, which resulted in bottlenecks that you would not find on the 360. So in a lot of ways, the 360 was more powerful than the PS3. And you saw that in games. Over time, developers found out ways to leverage the CPU to take the load off the GPU (and also make sure to use the GPU for what it was good at), and they were able to figure out ways to fit everything into 256 MB of RAM if needed. If the PS3 had the 360's GPU and RAM setup from day 1, I think things might have been a bit different.

You can certainly use the CPU to help out some, but the differences in GPUs is what will likely have the largest impact on game performance/visuals. PS3 could probably decode 48 different audio 7.1 streams (or whatever), but that power wouldn't necessarily make the textures look better.

With the PS4 and XBO, the designs are pretty similar, but the PS4's hardware is (sometime substantially) better in almost every way.

PS3 250gb? super slim with TLOU and Batman:AA is going to go for $199 on BF. Best Buy is currently offering $100 for any used Xbox/PS3. Your best bet is to probably trade in all your stuff to them. I think they're also offering 100% extra trade in credit on video games.

I don't know if Warframe is a love/hate it kind of game, but if it is, I think I love it.

It is really hard to figure out and get into (I think), but once you do...good stuff. And apparently still with lots of active development going on. Saw a preview of the next update, and it looked to be adding some cool things.

It might end up being my favorite "launch" game...and it is free. Of course, Resogun is also one of my favorites, and it too is free. Why did I buy all these other games again?

Can't find a single reason to buy Next Gen right now. The Fat PS3's at least had Backwards Compatibility as a hook.

The stories of hardware issues surrounding the PS4 and the imminent release of Dark Souls 2 pretty much seals the deal....for now.

When Dark Souls 3, Dragon's Dogma 2 or something equally enticing comes out for Next Gen....then it might be time.

Lol there aren't any hardware issues. It's less than 1% of all systems experiencing issues. I have one (I bought 2), cousin has 1 and bought 3. Not one person I know has had a single problem. I know there's a couple people on here who have had issues, but the odds are very low that you get a lemon.

My understanding is the people who actually got a defective unit received a working one quite quickly.
