Can someone who's an insider provide this article? Appreciate it! http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/10004979/nba-trade-fits-omer-asik
Yeah, pretty much what we've come to expect. I'm still in for Millsap, and I'd rather not have Green or Young.
Stephen A Smith is saying he believes Melo wants out of NY. Who says no to this trade: NY: Lin Asik Filler (DMo, Smith, Jones, etc) Hou: Melo Houston becomes instant contenders with a big 3 of Melo/Harden/Dwight. You no longer have the issue with Harden/Lin or Beverly/Lin. Melo works best as an offball/catch and shoot guy. Oh btw, Dwight is packing the paint in the middle. NY gets some much needed ball movement with Lin instead of fatty Felton and iso-Melo. They can then package Chandler for something since Asik does the same thing for half the cost. It's a win win situation.
Melo is amazing when he's hot. Dude just takes too many shots though.. We wouldn't be a team with him on it.
The Rockets better say no to that. Harden and Melo would be a defensive disaster of epic proportions. Plus I don't think Melo's ball stopping style of play fits into our fast paced offense. It's bad enough that Harden likes to do it sometimes but between him and Melo it would be unwatchable sometimes.
Filler will have to be Parsons. This would be a terrible trade for Rockets. Another defenseless ball hog.
They will lose him for nothing after this season if he does intend on leaving. Melo is not a consistent defender, but much better than Harden. Probably about the same as the pieces you are giving up (Lin, Jones, etc). Also, have you watched Melo on the Olympic team? Fast paced teams are exactly what plays into his strengths. They played iso Melo in NY because fatty Felton is completely useless. Harden will be able to feed Melo really well.
I'd take Milsap from that list. However, I can't remember the last time Morey pulled off a trade for someone that the media has mentioned. ie. It will be "none of the above".
The Knicks. The Knicks would say no. Trading Melo would put them in full rebuild mode, and financially they have too much money locked up to actually go through such a process successfully. That Knicks team is all in on winning now -- they just suck. They won't pull the plug on that for quite a while -- at least a couple years after this one.
Melo is about as un-Morey of a player as anybody in the league. If that trade happened the Rockets would just shift the problem position from PF to PG, arguably a much more important position. Bev is not a player I would want to depend on for a championship run.
would develop a (cheaper) jones any day over Paul and eran, jones can work on his shot just like just ppat did. Would be ok with this going into the playoffs. Howard/Camby/smith/filler anderson/jones Parsons/garcia or casspi harden/lin bev/lin
Again, Melo's opt out is after this season. You think he wants to stay with the Knicks with a hobbled Amare and Chandler as the Pacers/Bulls/Heat get better and better? Bev is a complimentary player, he would be like the Fisher/Chalmers type player. He's perfectly capable of doing that. When you have Harden/Melo/Dwight/Parsons, there won't be a lot of usage from Bev. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mrg5xq4 The trade makes sense.
