New Zealand vs. México tomorrow at around this time (12 midnight Houston time, 19:00 Wellington time for kickoff). Pre game stuff begins at 11 pm on Univision and Univision.com, ESPN for you English speakers... Last chance for us to make the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup. The Kiwis will have to attack, down 5-0 from the first leg. They will be missing some key defenders, players. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...wn-keys-to-victory-for-el-tri-in-critical-leg
Should be on NBC Sports Network here in the states. Interesting final match for the USA. Lots of positions up for grabs heading into Brazil (article on SI.com). Who will start on the backline: Evans/Besler/Gonzalez/Beasley or do Cameron/Lichaj/Fabian Johnson get a crack? We pretty much know Howard, Jones, Bradley, and Altidore will start if healthy. Do they go 4-4-2 or a 4-2-3-1 with Jose as the lone striker? Still so much to play for and only a few precious months to figure it all out.
You are correct, sir. I was looking at the wrong day. Isn't it nice to have this game this week...where there's no pressure other than looking at those who might be on the bubble for Brazil?
U.S. Soccer @ussoccer 7s The #USMNT starting XI - 4-2-3-1: Howard; Cameron, Gonzalez, Brooks, Beasley; Bradley, Jones; Bedoya, Johannsson, Shea; Altidore #USAvAUT Great starting lineup. Not settling for mediocrity. Hope AJ & Brooks shine
Header by Cameron was then deflected by the hand of the Austrian. As a result, the ball went in but alas, no goal.
That non-call probably cost us a result today. Will be interesting to see the fallout from the performances by some of the guys on the bubble after all is said and done. I don't think Shea acquitted himself all that well. I like Cameron at RB (his position at Stoke), but I think Evans will be the first choice going into 2014. I know Jürgen likes Jones pairing with Bradley, but I still don't trust the dude. Pairing Jones and Bradley means less of Bradley coming forward which isn't a good thing.
Yeah, I was having the same discussion with a buddy of mine about Jones. I like his tenacity and vigor on the pitch but the dude just gambles way too often. He doesn't have the discipline to stay back when necessary and as result, he leaves Bradley behind to clean up his mess. The US is stronger when Bradley has the ability to roam forward. Can't do it too often with Jones by his side.
Some of the best play for the US this year was in the game with Cameron in Jones' position. That allowed Bradley to roam and do what he does best. Jones might be good for his club but he's terrible for the US. I realize he's German, but that's no excuse to allow for him to have a guaranteed starting spot when there are better options. That's my one remaining beef with Jurgen right now. Too much loyalty to certain players (Jones, Beckerman) who haven't earned it with their play when there are other who have (Torres).
